In what is becoming a reccouring themes the Oregon Duck football brand is taking a liking to the high school athletes that are in the state of Florida for the 2010 class. Running Back Ethan Grant has already committed to Oregon. Wide Receivers Ted Meline and Ivan McCartney view Oregon so highly there is talk of both taking visits in the near future on their own dime to check out Oregon. Then there is Peniel Jean who says if the Ducks’ staff offer him a scholarship to play in the defensive backfield he’d take a long hard look at committing right away. Now there is defensive back Tony Grimes out of Hollywood Hills High school in Hollywood, Fl.
The 6 foot 175 pound senior-to-be who runs a 4.47 forty has only started recently to hear from colleges but that doesn’t mean he isn’t getting interest.
“I currently only have two offers, FAU, and Southern Florida, but I am hearing from schools all the schools in the SEC almost every day and I also get a lot of mail from some ACC schools as well as a few others,” says Grimes.
But what schools are on the mind right now for this defensive back who recorded 41 solo tackles, 15 pass breakups, and 5 interceptions this past season?
“I’m not saying this just to say it because I really mean this. My two favorite schools are Florida and Oregon. They both are just great programs that I would love to become a part of if I get the chance,” says Grimes.
So how did Oregon become a favorite for this cover corner from Florida?
“I can’t really speak for why lots of people like Oregon, but I’ve grown up sort of an Oregon fan. It’s weird because I was the only one out of all my peers. Everyone would always bring up their uniforms but the program seems more like a family with big ambitions and that is what is really appealing to me,” added Grimes.
Check back with Ducks Attack as we will follow this recruitment of this cover corner from Florida in the following months.

I look forward to hearing more on this guy…He sounds like a great guy with a good head on his shoulders and with his size and speed in our secondary this guy would be great in the PAC10!
GO DUCKS!!
