James Hurst will be one of the top offensive tackles in the 2010 class when it’s all said and done. This 6’6” 290 pound monster from Indiana made his name known during the Army Jr. Combine in San Antonio. Hurst has an offer from Oregon as well as offers from 15 different teams.

“I have offers from Notre Dame, Mississippi State, Indiana, Purdue, Michigan State, Illinois, Stanford, North Carolina, Duke, Miami, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Louisville, and Penn State,” said Hurst.

With so many teams pursing Hurst, deciding where to spend his college life will be a challenge for him. What is he looking for in a school?

Hurst told Ducksattack that he’s looking for winning program with good coaches. He also stated he wants a place with a nice campus lifestyle where he can feel comfortable. Distance will not be a factor he also stated.

Where does Oregon Stand in the eyes of Hurst?

Hurst stated what he likes about Oregon is the coaching staff as well as the fact Oregon is a winning team on the rise. Oregon’s association with Nike also has Hurst looking at the Ducks.

“I like the coaching staff at Oregon. They are a program on the rise and you have to like that. Also Nike being assoiciated with Oregon is something that interetes me,” says Hurst.

Hurst plans on taking all his visits but isn’t sure where just yet. Coach Greatwood, the primary recruiter for Hurst, will surely be fighting on behalf of the Ducks for one of those visits.

There is a good reason Hurst is a hot commodity. Nasty, determined, volatile, quick, and a finisher are all words Hurst used to describe himself. His team went 9-3, and he had an impressive 95% blocking rating he informed Ducks Attack. His team fell short and lost in the sectional finals, but Hurst wasn’t too bothered. “It was a good year and we’re looking to be good again this year,” says Hurst, “We had several people like Nick McClain step up. My year was really good.” Hurst finished the season with All Conference, All County, All Area and All State awards.

Ducks Attack will follow Hurst’s recruitment in the continuing months.
