With the 2010 class pretty much wrapped up, the Ducks now put their full attention toward the 2011 class. You can the bet the Oregon staff will look to add a few wide receivers this class. One player that is already catching the attention of many schools is speedster Tacoi Sumler (Miami, FL). Sumler isn’t the biggest WR measuring in at about 5’9” 165lbs, but he is deadly in the open field and claims a 4.33 40-yard dash and 10.49 100 meter sprint.
Many schools are pursuing Sumler including the Ducks. Right now Sumler has offers from South Carolina, Arkansas, Clemson, Tulane, Stanford, Ole Miss, Duke, FIU, Tennessee, Florida State, and West Virginia. Oregon has yet to offer, but Sumler still has interest in the ducks.
“I have had contact with Oregon, and I like the program along with the school. They’re definitely a team to watch out for. I see championship material.”
At this point, he is still very open. Sumler said, “All schools are my favorites. Any school that shows interest in me, I’ll show it back.” Sumler told Ducks Attack that he plans on taking an unofficial visit to Clemson over spring break. He also might take some visits over the summer.
Sumler’s speed and smarts (3.45 GPA) would be a big boost for any college football team. Although Sumler hasn’t received an Oregon offer yet, we’ll continue to follow Sumler and his recruitment. To discuss this story along with other recruiting news, please visit our boards HERE.

Nobody knows how to use speed like Oregon. If he just trips up here I’m sure he’ll have a LOT to think about. Sometimes it’s hard to get these kids away from home, but Tacoi looks real good so I hope we do our best to get him to come west.

Nice speed and I like his GPA. I wonder how much of a shot we have with him. We certainly could use the speed but we also need some big bodies that like to block.

He sounds great! With his speed in our offense, I can only imagine what Chip Kelly could do with this guy!
Thanks for the write-up Jonah.
GO DUCKS!!

Thanks for the write-up Jonah… very interesting prospect, seems like he could be a good match for the TZR position.
It’ll be interesting to see how that develops next year with Barner, Huff and Lowe all being great candidates to play there.
Good luck with your recruiting Tacoi, I hope you make it to Oregon to see first hand what a great program it is and just how crazy Autzen can get!
