The Ducks received a commitment from QB Marcus Mariota just a few weeks ago. Ducks Attack was able to catch up with the 6’4” 190-pound slinger from Hawaii to see what his plans are for Oregon.

Mariota has gone under the radar with recruiting early on, and only has offers from Oregon and Memphis. However, schools are starting to notice Mariota thanks to his elite physical abilities and impressive performances at camps and combines. Even with increasing attention from school, he has already made up his mind where he wants to attend.

“A lot of colleges are still sending letters and having me call them. Schools like Washington, Colorado, Utah among others. But right now my heart is in Oregon. Oregon seems like a great fit for me. I feel that I can excel in their offense. The coaches are very open with me and like my skills as a quarterback.”

With Mariota being solid to Oregon, he has a visit lined up for next week where he’ll be attending Oregon’s full contact camp (June 20 – 24). He is excited to visit and when asked about playing time and his situation with Oregon, he had this to say:

“As of now, I will be playing quarterback in college. I will learn more about the playing time as I visit Oregon next week.”

Really hope he enjoys his visit here. People would be pretty excited to get a commit out of him.

Marcus, on the (albeit small) chance you read this, good luck with your recruitment and I really hope Oregon is the right fit for you. I also hope that you think about coming back for a home game this fall, since I think Autzen on gameday is one of the most amazing (and loud) sports experiences in the country.
