Not much information is out yet, but one of Oregon's top men's tennis players died yesterday in a cliff diving accident. So sad.

Real sad to hear. Remember to check out the water and what is underneath before ever diving into it.

Police give more details in Rovello's drowning. Happened at Tamolitch Falls in Linn County.

Very tragic. Not the exact same situation, but brings back the memory of Todd Doxey.

Wow. What would cause someone to think it's a good idea to jump from Tamolitch Falls, especially a sober person?

Condolences to the family.

Others were doing it and survived. Reports are saying he landed on his chest and head, which probably knocked him out or at least gave him a concussion, especially considering the height of Tamolitch Falls.

Were others diving though or were they jumping feet first?

Jumping off a cliff from 60 feet + a frigid water temperature= bad idea. I read that Rovello wasn't a risk taker, which makes this incident strange.

60 feet is a long way to be diving. I've dove up to 30 feet and that is bad enough.

Isn't it anything above 50 feet and hitting water incorrectly and the impact is similar to hitting cement?
