Oregon Volleyball gets a HUGE commit

Post by gregspechtismyhero »

Liz Brenner told me yesterday that she officially committed to Oregon over the weekend. She went on and on about how great the program is looking and how she feels like the future team could bring home a National Title, I wasn't really a volleyball fan, but I can't wait to watch them play at Mat!

Nice. It is always good to see the sports that are not as much in the spotlight get support.

For those that don't know who she is, here is a link to a video interview that shows some clips of her in action playing basketball as well:

Great news! Welcome to the program Liz.

The PAC 10 is the toughest VB conference in the nation. The Duck consistently rank high but it is common to have as many as 6 PAC 10 teams in the top 15 in the nation. I’m a big fan and I’m excited to see the this success. Hopefully one or two additional high quality players will join the Ducks and move the program into the top 5.

The basketball clip showed fluid footwork and body control. Her height is great. I haven't found any info on her vertical jump and reach. She didn’t show much in the clip.

VB jumping is more critical than basketball...some of you are thinking he's nuts, did he never see Jordan play. The difference is the frequency. As a hitter/blocker you may be called on for maximum jump and reach 6 to 8 times in a 90 second span. Max jump and reach and the ability to maintain a vertical jump near your max is critical.

If anyone see her stats on jump and reach please post. .

Go Duck Volleyball !

IIRC, Brenner is 6'1". Brenner was All-State last season as a sophomore middle blocker.

Check out the guns on her teammate, 5'9" Ali Grauer...

Brenner...haha your granddaughter must be really sick ;)
Ya, she's big, but she's an extremely athletic girl. She said that interest from UCLA and other schools increased exponentially since they found out that she verbally committed. She says right now she's 99% committed to Oregon.

It seems that most of the fall sports programs are doing well right now. Football is going great. Volleyball is ranked in top-15. Cross country teams are ranked in top-10 and have won trophies at the NCAA Championships. Soccer is still not up there with the other teams, but they play in a very tough conference and are still relatively new. Great time to be a fan of Oregon sports. All we need now is for our basketball, baseball, and softball teams to get going.

Doug is the definition of a gentle giant: beast on the field but the nicest and most humble kid you will ever meet off the field. He played two games with the freshman team, broke a kid's collar bone then got moved up to varsity. He can also grow a beard in 2 days...doesn't relate to his athletic ability but it's still really impressive. To lock him up would be a big deal because he's more of a beaver fan for God know's what reason :? but hopefully Liz can talk him into choosing the O.
