Ducks land top athlete!

In track that is. 8-) Sorry couldn't resist, needed to lighten the mood around here with everyone on pins and needles waiting on Football signing day.

Welcome Lukas Verzbicas to the duck family.

"Verzbicas produced the nation’s fastest prep mile time of 4:04.38 as a sophomore last year, and he holds the national high-school indoor record in the 5,000 at 14:18.42.

Verzbicas is reportedly a big fan of Steve Prefontaine. In a story published in the May 2010 issue of Running Times Magazine, he told Brian Metzler that he has read the book about Prefontaine, owns all three movies and has decorated his bedroom walls with Pre posters."

“Mentally, physically and genetically, this kid has it,” Virgin said. “He could be the next great superstar.”

Medical examiner: Homicide victim buckmarkduck died of 'blunt force trauma'

EUGENE, Ore.-- In a development that has stunned the Duck community, Ducksattack poster buckmarkduck has been found bludgeoned to death after he posted a misleading topic heading which seemed to indicate that a new recruit had joined the Duck football team, when in fact, it was a distance runner on the track team. Police say they have multiple suspects and are following several leads, but no one has been charged with any wrongdoing to date. "This is being classified as a justifiable homicide and the charges will most likely be dropped", said police chief Robert Lehner, "The final week of the footbal recruiting period is a difficult time with a lot of people on edge, and buckmarkduck's action was clearly over the line, and he deserved to get whacked. We just want to find the perpetrator and make sure he doesn't go after Beavermobile next, as he has protected status from our department, giving him carte blanche to torment duck fans as he sees fit."
When asked to discuss details of Beavermobile's protected status, Lehner declined to comment, citing various statutes governing discussions about recruiting. "All further questions should be asked in a private message", he stated before abruptly ending the press conference.

 , we're still track town USA, so this is big news getting what would be a 5* track and CC runner if they did that sort of thing.

I was looking him up just a few days ago because he won the National Athlete of the Year on ESPN. I had no idea we were in it.

Lannana has been able to get almost any middle to long-distance runner he wants. It's been a tad harder to get quality jumpers and field athletes. The last time Oregon had some quality horizontal and vertical jumpers was with Leonidas Watson. It also sucks that Oregon couldn't keep Sheldon pole vaulter Juilfs here, but I can't blame him for going to UW since they have a good history with pole vaulters.
