Don't get me wrong, Trump wanted the anarchy of this to happen which is why in Salem there were also a bunch of dumb-asses but they weren't allowed to flourish in their actions. It was handled differently relative to the other protests in DC to which it is comparable by the sheer fact that the National Guard did nothing because they weren't called in.

I completely get though why a person of color watches this and compares it to any other protest that turned violent this last year and feels a double-standard exists and for good reason. It's all been very shocking to see from the initial lack of response to it all throughout the day before finally being pushed out and the low number of arrests through it all.
The mayor of DC did request the National Guard but the administration didn’t allow it.
Also watch the videos of the tRumpers entering the halls of Congress and the Capital police taking selfies with the mob. The FBI warned that white nationalists were infiltrating police departments 10-15 years ago. That was on display today.

Not sure what any of this has to do with racism; it just seems like the shoe is on the other foot, and all the people who downplayed violent gatherings with descriptions like 'mostly peaceful demonstrations' and considered federal intervention to be examples of Hitlerian Fascism are now calling for federal intervention and using words like 'rioting' and 'insurrection'. Are people here actually bemoaning the fact that only one person was killed at the hands of police? She was unarmed and just standing among a group of demonstrators...isn't anyone going to set up a candlelight vigil for Ashli Babbitt and 'say her name'? No? I also love the 'infiltrating police departments' comment, as though people born and raised in the U.S. should suddenly be ruled ineligible from becoming police because someone applied the catchy phrase 'white nationalist' to them, whatever the heck that even means.

It will be interesting to see if the adopting of left-wing tactics by the right continues. Maybe three years of investigating Biden from a special counsel and granting massive Senate investigations into every accusation leveled against his judicial appointments would be a good start.

So nobody is going to respond to my comment that if thousands of muslims talked for months online about how a 'civil war is coming' on January 6th, staged a rally in the capital, broke into congressional buildings, attacked cops, and broke into senators' offices, and planted pipe bombs outside the DNC and RNC that things would have gone differently, eh? Good, glad we all agree, and so we can all move on with our lives.

'Traitor' is not a word to be used lightly. Clearly, these people and those who support them are traitors. Stop calling yourselves patriotic or Americans. You're of weak mind and a traitor to the republic.

Yes, add 'traitor' to the list of epithets used by hypocrites who never considered using that word all spring and summer for people on the left doing the exact same things.

Honestly if they were all wearing Maga gear then No. It was allowed to happen simply because they supported the President and he wanted the anarchy.

Feel free to say the only reason for it was racism but it's missing many other points that all led up to it. Our country is fractured and it's not just racism to blame and acting as if that is the sole reason for yesterday doesn't help us restore civility and will only leads to more division and rifts that we need to be repairing

No one here has supported anything that happened yesterday.

You’re getting incredibly upset over hypotheticals that didn’t happen. Stupid people did stupid things yesterday and everyone is upset about it. What more do you want to be said?

I'm from the middle east, I have extended family who are not good people who would do bad things to you. So of course America should be more afraid of my people. We kind of bring that upon ourselves when we are constantly blowing up buildings and chopping heads off. WE (Iranians/Middle Easterns) brought that upon ourselves. I'm pumped when TSA pulls me aside when my beard is out of control. I feel safer. If they weren't worried about me, then that's a problem.

And FYI:

This^

Obviously we are against anyone storming the capital, that's stupid, and people are going to get hurt. And we see someone was shot.

I just don't directly agree with the racist comment.

It's funny to see people scream "Racism" over how yesterday was handled after all of the BLM protests we've had where lots of mayhem pursued. I personally believe ANTIFA used both as a means to create havoc and mob mentality took over. But to scream racism with empty claims just further shows that those who want to see racism will see racism; which the left does to further their self-righteous belief that being liberal makes you of superior morality and that the right is all evil racists. What happened yesterday was a disgrace, I'm at the point where I'm done supporting Republicans and Democrats because supporters of both sides are being wildly inappropriate and spreading hate. We need reason and unity but it seems like with Democrats and/or Republicans in charge it will only get worse, it's really time for a third party now. But we won't get one sadly, big tech runs the country and they use politicians to do it. But it would help if people stop feeding narratives like racism and lazy socialists and understand that a large majority of us on both sides want the same things, we just have a disagreement how to get there. So often a Democrat talks to me as if I'm supportive of greed and white supremacy when I hate both and want to see small business flourish, just like them.

Also to those screaming racism, remember the burden of proof is on you for making that accusation that systemic racism led to yesterday's events being handled differently than BLM protests/riots. Please provide proof of an argument like that if you want people to consider what you're saying, don't just say something that is popular on social media and expect everyone to agree because the masses on Twitter do. If you provide evidence, I will gladly listen, but as long as you simply say "It's racism! Just saying, if you don't see that then you're hopeless", then I'm not going to consider what you're saying as logical or reasonable, but simply an emotional response with no grounds that you're telling yourself is factual.

Its easy to say that the sole reason for not doing anything is racism but this is classic DC willful-ineptitude.
All our leadership in cities are weak. Antifa can burn buildings and loot, and our cities do nothing. And then examples like this, where we can't prevent people from storming a government building? Ineptitude is a good word.

How different though is it from city leaders allowing antifa to burn down buildings, killing and beating those on the opposite side, cementing doors to police buildings before lighting them on fire, attacking federal buildings, attacking police, etc...

Seems like our city leaders have allowed this for years and no one cares. It feels like anarchy is only called out when it doesn't align with your political views, which is a shame. There should have been posts all year about antifa and what's happening in Portland and other cities. But we only call it anarchy when it benefits our argument. Sadly convenient...

My “team” did really stupid stuff yesterday that I don’t support and wish wasn’t a reflection of my political party. It’s not hard for me to say that. We need more honesty and transparency instead of blindly repping our team no matter what.

There is no antifa evidence in anything that has happened this. The FBI/CIA has investigated the looting/burning that happened at the start of the year and it turned out to be far right individuals "acting" as them. The AP ran an article in October, https://apnews.com/article/virus-outbre ... d96c54f748, that shows they are an easy target for the loud mouths who like to deflect attention away from them

Come on ownage, you’re a smart guy. To think all the rioting and looting was “fake” antifa is ignorant at best.

Go and watch videos from: Andy NGO, Elijah Schaefer etc and tell me it’s “fake” antifa that are violent. Or any video from Portland. Portland is 88% Democrat, you’d be hard pressed to find several thousand conservatives let alone have them “pretend” to be antifa in the thousands to burn down buildings. Or shout “there’s a trump-er “ and shoot one of their own dead in the streets.

19 died in the first 2 weeks of George Floyd protests. I could find the articles for every one of those to help show who was being killed and who was the antagonist but it will show a far different narrative

I could care less if it is a reflection of a political party, since both major parties are already totally corrupt. The issue, in my mind, is the narrative in the media and all of the media's obedient sycophants who repeat it on message boards everywhere, that somehow this is a racial issue. That is a joke. The issue is whether there was voting fraud, and why no court will hear the evidence, despite numerous well-documented attempts from every conceivable angle in terms of standing to have it heard. To me, as a casual observer, a populist uprising is the pretty natural result of not getting a fair hearing. Just like when BLM does the same thing all over the country over perceived unfair treatment by police. People in general want to feel like they are getting a fair shake.

On July 7, 2016, there were BLM-led riots all over the country, which led to a number of deaths, including the murdering of five police officers in Dallas. I don't recall anyone in the media at that time saying it was a reflection on Obama, who had voiced support for BLM. Nobody called for his impeachment, etc. The political damage was localized to that one individual, who was quickly dispatched by police and the whole thing was considered over with. Same thing this summer when an Antifa/ BLM supporter murdered the Trump supporter in Portland. Even Ted Wheeler, who had actually gone so far as to personally join the protesting/rioting was not recalled - in fact, he was re-elected. BLM can murder little children, they can bomb buildings and storm courthouses - none of this is considered a reflection on Democrat authorities, or BLM supporters in the media, or LeBron James, and nobody is recalled or impeached. We are told to separate those few people who did that stuff from the main body of 'mostly-peaceful protestors'. In fact, we are considered racist if we do not readily perform those mental gymnastics. So why now, all of a sudden, is there all of this umbrage over protesting and rioting, and somehow it is a reflection on Trump, or Josh Hawley, or anyone who dared to question the election results? Because the media in this country have a clear agenda and are making some political hay over this. Instead of appeasing people with an actual hearing of the evidence in court, they are all considered traitors and terrorists, etc. despite the fact that they killed nobody, the only deaths were of the protestors themselves.

I'm assuming nobody here participated in the Washington D.C. protests, but it is interesting how some of our resident hair-on-fire lefties are still preaching to us as though we had something to do with it. It's hard, I imagine, to have such a great media narrative, and nobody to use it on, so anywhere where there is a shred of public discourse becomes the bully pulpit.
