24 point favorites vs Cal?!
Am I the only one who finds that high? I was expecting the line to be something like -17 or so. The gambler in me says take Cal but the Duck in me says Ducks. This is why I don't bet on the Ducks.

Re: 24 point favorites vs Cal?!
That is a hard line to bet on the Ducks. As someone on twitter pointed out, the average MOV in the Chip Kelly era at home is +26, with only one win being by 4 points, all the others over 19!
This is the type of line I love to bet a small amount on the opponent, cause then if Oregon covers I won't mind and if they don't cover, we can both still be winners. I usually root for a small cover by the opposition in that scenario.
That being said, I think the Ducks cover. Vegas knows everyone will be betting on Cal because of last years results with a line like that. Something fishy about it.

Line sounds about right. Just remember, Cal is not a good road team and they are playing at Autzen (not an easy place to play). Oregon should be above the line by the 3rd or 4th quarter. It appears the weather will be pretty nice but the question will be, how soon do the 2's and 3' start playing? That should decide how close the spread will be in the end unless Cal has given up.

Past wins and losses doesn't really justify this high of a spread.buckmarkduck wrote:Cal is 1-8 at UO since 89.

I guess my reservations on the line come from the fact you don't often see that large of a line when two 3-1 teams play each other. Then consider the game last year and the general history of the series, 24 just seems high. Given Cal's propensity to suck on the road, if we won by 24 I wouldn't be shocked but wasn't the line against Nevada right around 24?RebelDuck wrote:Line sounds about right. I think it was 27 for Nevada.Duck24 wrote:I guess my reservations on the line come from the fact you don't often see that large of a line when two 3-1 teams play each other. I'll be super happy if we cover that line. A 24 point win versus a league opponent is great, I dont care who it is.

I think there are a good number of Duck fans wondering about that high of a spread. If I have a concern about it, it's only that it can serve to motivate Cal.

Up until this game, every game with Cal for the last 5-6 years has been a battle.5$ wrote:42-3

In fact, that 42-3 victory broke a three game losing streak to Cal (two in Berkley and one in Autzen). I remember that game, the crowd was so jacked up to beat then #6 Cal. Loudest game at Autzen imo...UOducksTK1 wrote:Up until this game, every game with Cal for the last 5-6 years has been a battle.5$ wrote:42-3

Couldn't have gotten off to a worst start either. WT3 pulled the knee trifecta and fumbled the ball on opening kickoff. All I could think of when that happened was Cal 2006 when Dixon tossed the INT first play from scrimmage.NCDucks09 wrote:In fact, that 42-3 victory broke a three game losing streak to Cal (two in Berkley and one in Autzen). Re: 24 point favorites vs Cal?!
I'm not too terribly concerned about Cal using the line as a motivation because we know that the Ducks won't overlook this game after last year. I'm just more concerned about the skill on Cal's D. Yes UW hung some points on them but this isn't the Purple Geez UW and Cal does look semi-legit. Haven't seen a ton of the QB but a mobile lefty somewhat concerns me not to mention their WR look pretty good. If Keenan Allen ever gets rid of Jaison Williams syndrome, he will be a first rounder.Greenblood wrote:I think there are a good number of Duck fans wondering about that high of a spread.
