That's been the system for quite a while. It's why Oregon has practice injuries less often than other schools. It's a trade-off.

Oh yeah I think most of us were aware of that since it has been that way for some time now but it is clearly having an impact on the young guys and since there are so many young guys and not as many older guys, there is less room for error. Looked much better against Colorado but still work to do.

When you have zero live tackling combined with defenders playing 10 yards off the receivers combined with the youth this is the end result. Teams convert 3rd downs with ease and the defense stays on the field. I understand the injury concerns from Helfrich but when you see the results on the field think we need to fix things.

Tyner, Ifo, and Addison sure think the zero live tackling thing is a great idea. Trying to avoid injuries in football is like trying to avoid an awkward conversation with a nerd in a video game store, it's impossible and might as well embrace the imminent fate.

Its been a cost benefit that many teams use. While the evidence from researchers isnt there many speculate that the higher in game injuries is due to less tackeling in practice.

In all fairness, Tyner wasn't hurt in practice. He hurt it against UW and decided to not have surgery on it for damn near a year.

With our depleted depth I can't imagine them changing, at least not anytime soon. We're already down to a group of true and redshirt freshmen in the secondary rotation. I can't imagine anyone else getting hurt right now.

If the Ducks were in a "Two Hands Anywhere" League, they'd probably be undefeated...

part of the limits to hitting is a conference mandate. that said, practicing the "hawk" tackle like Seattle emulates with more rugby style tackling can still be done with our practices. further, if we need tackling practice because it's that bad then it's imperative the coaches take time for it regardless of any loss of efficiency when it don't mean squat come gameday

Allioti was a huge proponent of hawk tackling and 11 men to the ball every play.
