Nebraska loses 2 defensive coaches

Post by greenyellow »

Mike Riley is making changes to his staff, both voluntarily and involuntarily. He's firing DC Mark Banker, a long-time staff member of his, and his DB coach, Brian Stewart, is going to Rice so he can be their DC. May hurt them in the final month of recruiting.

Why did he fire him?

Couldnt close out the season with a couple late losses due to the 10th worst defense in the BIG 10. But really it was the 62-3 spanking by tOSU that sealed the deal.

There were a lot of rumors that he was pressured by the admin/boosters at OSU to fire Banker and that ultimately led him to accepting the Nebraska job. Riley carried Banker for as long as he could. Glad he sacked up and finally signaled that mediocrity won't do.

Doesn't help either when Clemson shuts them out 31-0 either.

Riley should have never taken Baker with him in the first place.
