There was conjecture on ESPN that the long-established teams e.g. Alabama, USC, Penn St receive much higher scrutiny and punishments than schools like Baylor that only recently have become prominent. Hard to argue with that assessment based on what we've seen in the last decade, albeit a very small sample size.
They have absolute binders on when it comes to certain SEC schools, most notably Alabama and Auburn.

This was a new coach to the university who folllwed Rhule from Temple and had nothing to do with the Briles scandal. Baylor fired him on the spot, what more can they do?

Let's not forget Ole Mi$$ where it is pretty much an open secret that they buy recruits. Hell, their top player says on national TV that he was paid while he was there and the NCAA doesn't bat an eye.

I don't think anyone is saying the firing wasn't handled correctly, but he was on Rhule's staff previously and one could question Rhule's awareness and judgement. The big issue is the additional negative light this sheds on Baylor at a time when they REALLY don't need it.

Now Baylor might go on accreditation probation as early as June, which would be a very bad thing for Baylor. I truly believe if they want any hope to save the institution, they should drop football for a term of years. And even then.....
