The A's get help for their bullpen. Familia, who will be a free agent next year, had a 4-4 record, 17 saves & a 2.88 ERA with the Mets.

It's going to be tough for the Mariners to keep hold of the #2 Wild Card. They got it by winning a lot of 1 run games. That's a nice stat. It's certainly better to have won those games instead of lost them. But, it's why the Mariners find themselves in this precarious position. https://www.teamrankings.com/mlb/stat/run-differential Houston, 6 games up has a run differential of +197, Oakland, 3 behind the Mariners has a R/D of +21. The Mariners? -5.
Cano coming back will help the offense. But, its the pitching where the M's could really use some help. Gonzales, and LeBlanc have been the best so far:, (10-5, 3.41), (6-1, 3.44) Paxton had a no hitter, and is (8-4, 3.70). Leake (8-6, 4.22) and, Hernandez, ( 8-8, 5.14), particularly Felix's penchant for giving up home runs, have been scary.

Mariners 8 White Sox 2. Marco Gonzales improves to 11-5 with his 2 hitter, no hits through the first 5 2/3 innings. Former Duck Ryon Healy has a career day, two 3 run HR's to power the offense to +1 in R/D. For the second time in a row, the A's get a one run, extra inning victory over the Giants, last night it was 4-3 in 11, today, 4-3 in 10. Angels help out; Angels 14 Astros 5.

Mark it down Mariners fans; July 24, the day it started to get really bad. It started before the game. Paxton was scheduled to start, but hours before the game, his back was still not right. Mariners go out and put up a battle though, before losing 4-3 to the Giants. Meanwhile, the Oakland A's found themselves down 10-2 in the 6th inning to the Rangers, on the road. How'd that game end, you ask? Oakland 13 Rangers 10, in 10 innings. Mariners lead A's by 1 1/2.
Well, the Mariners beat the Giants 3-2, today, Wednesday. Day off tomorrow then its in Anaheim and the Angels.

Mariners up one game over Oakland. Mariners @ Angels for three games, A's @ Rockies for three games. Hopefully, the Rockies handle the A's the way they did the Mariners.

Astros lose, A's lose, Mariners come from behind, nearly take the lead in the top of the 10th, but Dee Gordon's steal at home, originally called safe, is overturned, Cole Calhoun leads off the bottom of the 10th with a walk off home run, Mariners now 8-1 in extra innings.

4-1 Angels after two. It's sad watching Felix pitching anymore. He doesn't have any stuff anymore. It used to be that his changeup was one of the best pitches in the game. But now he doesn't have enough on his fastball to make it effective, and his curve/slider, even worse. Felix lasts 2.2 innings, gave up 5 runs, is responsible for the two runners on base. Lawrence comes in in relief, gives up a 3 run HR to the first batter, so Felix finishes giving up 7. Angels lead 8-1 after 3. For the second night in a row, Astros lose, A's lose, Mariners lose, 11-5. Astros 2ndbaseman, Jose Altuve goes on the DL.

Good start for the Mariners in this one, 6 hits, 7 runs in the first inning. Fantastic catch by Span in the 7th inning turns a 3 run HR into a 1 run sac fly. Mariners lead 8-5. Mariners win, 8-5. Astros lose, A's lose. Astros lead Mariners by 4 games, Mariners lead A's by 2 games. Astros in Seattle, Mon., Tue,, & Wednesday, Toronto in Oakland, Mon., Tue., & Wed.

Mariners break open a pitcher's duel between Houston's Gerritt Cole & Mariners' James Paxton in the 6th with 3 straight 2 out hits finished off by Nelson Cruz's double down the 3rd base line scoring Segura from second and Span from first. Mariners win, 2-0; now trail the Astros by 3 games, lead the A's, who beat the Blue Jays, by 2 games. Good to get this one, tomorrow, Charlie Morton, 11-2, 2.89 for the Astros, Mike Leake, 8-6, 4.15 for the Mariners.

Paxton beat out Cole, that's really nice for him and the M's.

Span gets a 2 out triple in the 1st, but is stranded. Astros CF George Stringer, looks to have injured a shoulder trying to field Span's hit and has been replaced. It was bad at the time when Dee Gordon was picked off at first to end the 3rd inning. But, Jean Segura got another at bat in the 4th, and hit a HR to put the Mariners in front, 1-0. Two of the new additions came out of the bullpen for the Mariners in the game, Tui Tuivailala gave up 2 hits in 1.2 innings. Zach Duke wasn't as successful giving up a 2 run HR to Josh Reddick in the 9th. Astros win 5-2. A's beat the Blue Jays. Mariners drop to 4 games behind the Astros, now lead the A's by 1 game.
