probably entering the most interesting part of the season. after we wrap up a series in tampa this weekend, our next 13 games are against anaheim, the yanks, and bosox. we get a brief respite against the orioles and royals before finishing the first half with 12 against anaheim and colorado, who are currently a 1/2 game out in the nl west.

meanwhile, houston's next THIRTY-FIVE GAMES are against teams .500 or below.

i wouldn't expect to still be in first place at the all star game, BUT with so many games against the angels if we can do some damage there we could put some great distance between us and them for the final wild card.

EDIT: my bad, houston plays 6 games against oakland over their next 35, and oakland is 32-31. so they aren't *exclusively* playing teams with losing records.

The Angels will be a test, they are a similar situation as the Clippers to the Blazers. It doesn't seem to matter home or away, records, the Angels have had the Mariners' number. Should the Mariners take care of the Angels this time it will be a real sign of this teams credibility.

Mariners get a big win, and pick up a half game on the Astros, with the 5-3 victory over the Angels. It started off bad, with Trout and Pujols hitting home runs in the top of the first. But Nelson Cruz tied it up with a 2 run shot in the bottom of the inning. Cruz would hit another one, along with Ryon Healy, Trout got another one too. but it just led to his league leading count.

Trout with two more homers, but Mitch and Ryon each had two homers for the Mariners. I'm a Red Sox fan and the last decade or so no matter their records, Mariners usually always does well at home vs Boston. Like you guys said the games vs the Angels are key, and then go around 500 vs the Yankees and Red Sox and the Mariners should be good for the second half.

i feel we should be celebrating ryon healy more. being that we spend some of our free time on a sports-related message board it's a given that we probably follow sports a bit closer than the average joe, but i met a mariner AND oregon fan the other day who had no idea ryon healy played for the ducks. i was dumbfounded. then again, oregon baseball isn't exactly a fan favorite sport.

anyhow, 3 bombs in the last 2 games for healy.

Another homer for Ryon to tie it at 6, then Mitch another homer in the ninth to win 8-6. Mitch is playing like an all star, Mariners now have third best record in the majors behind Red Sox and Yankees.

WE should all be celebrating Ryon Healy now, his home run in the 8th tied this one up. The Mariners win the most exciting game of the year, 8-6 with a walk off 2 run homer by Mitch Haniger, who ended the Angels in the top of the 9th with a throw from right field to double up a runne, and that wasn't even as exceptional as the throw out he had to Segura for an out at second base last night.
It didn't look like there would be this much drama as a 2 run HR by Nelson Cruz had the Mariners ahead 4-1 after 3. But the Angels tied it in the 6th, and a couple of home runs had them in the lead 6-5 after 7. Healy's home run tied it in the 8th and then Haniger's won it in the 9th. Red Sox in for a 4 game series starting tomorrow.

Saw the highlights, fun game. Nice sweep for the M's. Series for Red Sox is gonna really show if M's can battle with the best.

2-1 Red Sox. The teams played small ball, for a run a piece, a sixth inning homer for the Red Sox gets the win. The Mariners had runners on first and second with 0 no outs in the 9th, but a strike out and a double play ends the game.

sucky part of being a god awful franchise is that you can't fill up your stadium so legion of bandwagon boston fans can be heard shouting "let's go red sox" in your own park.

So your team was in first place before the game. Sucks that you don't even have enough band wagon fans of your own to over come the red sox faithful. Just sayin'. Two first place teams and you can't sell out the stadium? GO SAWWWWX!

Too make it look even worse; "King Felix" was pitching,; shows how far he's fallen. They expect 40,000 for Father's Day, but c'mon Mariners, first place, now 2nd, against Boston? They're shouldn't be an empty seat.
