it’s time to start taking oakland seriously. they’ve taken out kluber and cole in consecutive road games and they’ve won 17 of 21.

It started great for the Mariners, Haniger's 2 run HR highlighting a 3 run first. Unfortunately, that was it ; the Angels go on to win, 9-3. Meanwhile, the Astros beat the A's, 6-5 in 11.

Marco Gonzales shuts out the Angels for his 10th, (10-5) win of the season, 3-0. David Freitas gets his first ML home run driving it just past Trout in centerfield. Diaz gets Trout to fly out to Heredia in center for his 35th save. A's 8 Astros 3.

Gonzales has been really solid this year. Much needed with how Felix has looked.

Well, that was ugly, 11-2 Angels. Mariners manufactured a run in the first, but the Angels got 3 in the bottom of the inning, on a solo HR by the lead off hitter, and a 2 run shot by Pujols. Paxton could have been removed just for poor performance, but there might have been something wrong physically that prompted his exit. So, now the Mariners head off to Colorado, where Cruz won't be in the line-up due to the Rockies being in the NL. The A's just finished taking 3 of 4 from the Astros in Houston.

m's are most likely in a world of trouble.

if anyone here is a lifelong mariner, you'll be sufficiently numb to it all so no worries. if anyone here is new to mariner fandom, welcome to the soul-crushing defeatism that is being a seattle mariner fan.

Exactly. I was in the Kingdome watching the M;s with Jim Presley at third, Ken Phelps at first, and it was awful, then Griffey showed up, '95, Edgar's hit, Griffey coming home. How about 2001, 116 W's. If they had won the World Series, the Seattle Mariners would have had to been in the discussion of "Greatest Team Ever". Instead they don't even get to the Series, and now the 116 is a choke joke. The Mariners are now the champs of the longest team of the Big 4 to miss the playoffs. They have gotten off to a great start this season, but with less than 70 games to go, is it going to fall apart?

It could become clear pretty soon, Mariners finish out July, start Aug. with a 3 game series at home against the Astros, 30, 31, 1, then host Toronto , 2-5; then the road trip of the season: 6-8 @ Rangers, 9-12 @ Astros, 13-15 @ A's. Cano will be able to play during the series with the A's

Here's hoping that the M's can make the playoffs and beat the Yankees. For purely selfish reasons I might add. Go Saaaaawwwwwxxxww!

It looked like Final Vote Winner, Mariners shortstop, Jean Segura was going to get the All Star Game MVP for his game deciding 3 run HR. Until, MLB Saves leader, and teammate Edwin Diaz, comes in, and blows the Save in the bottom of the 9th, allowing a game tying 2 run HR. But then Astros teammates, Alex Bregman & George Springer, hit back to back HR's to put the AL back in the lead, 8-5. Joey Voto hits a HR in the 10th, to make it 8-6. Mariner,Mitch Haniger, gets the final put out, catching a fly in right field, and despite having the worst performance of any player in the game, Diaz ends up the winning pitcher and Bregman gets the MVP.
