Sox win 5-3, Yankees lose to Rays 7-6. Boston with a 6 game lead. 71-41 on the year. Pomeranz on the hill at Camden Yards tonight. Life is good.

Sox lose 7-6, set up man Kelly gives up a bomb, Pomeranz loses again. Damn we need to sign another ace starting pitcher. Yanks win so lead is down to 5.

Mookie Betts with a walk off home run, Sox beat the twins 4-3. Chris Sale with 6 innings of dominance, bullpen shaky lately. NY postponed. 5 game lead.

Eovaldi pitches 7 innings of 4 hit scoreless ball in his Sox debut. J D Martinez drives in all 3 runs in 3-0 Red Sox win. 5 game lead. Sox are now 41 games over .500 at 74-31, take 3 of 4 from Twins. Host Phillies on Monday and Tuesday. Day off Wednesday before the big four game series with the Yankees. Could put some serious distance between the top two teams. Go Saaawwwxxx!

Swihart with a walk off ground rule double in the bottom of the 13th inning to win 2-1 vs. the Phillies. David price with 8 strong innings, 1 earned run. Pen holds Phillies scoreless for 5 innings. Sox now 42 games over .500 @ 75-33. 6 game lead in the AL East. One game tonight then day off and hosting the damn Yankees for 4 games which could go a long way in determining if this is going to be a dogfight all the way or Red Sox opening up a formidable lead.

You are aware of how Portland got it's name right? They wanted to name their new city up on the Columbia and decided to have a vote. There were so many people there from Mass, that the top two choices were Portland and Boston. So yes there are a lot of people here who have ties to that area of the country...just sayin'...

MLB trade deadline: Red Sox acquire Ian Kinsler from Angels.

The Red Sox have acquired veteran second baseman Ian Kinsler and cash from the Angels. The Angels in return receive minor-league right-hander Ty Buttrey and minor-league left-hander Williams Jerez. Per Ken Rosenthal, the Angels will send the Red Sox half of Kinsler's remaining $3.6 million in salary obligation.

Some perspective on Kinsler's age-35 season ...
Kinsler's offensive numbers are down, but still a higher WAR this season than every Sox position player except Betts, Benintendi, Martinez and Bogaerts. And he has an .859 OPS since May 28. Kinsler, who is in his walk year, struggled for much of the first two months of the season, but since then he's been producing in vintage fashion (.320/.393/.467 line for July). He's also still a good baserunner, and he remains a pronounced defensive asset at second base. Second base is where he'll play for the time being in Boston, as Dustin Pedroia remains sidelined with knee problems. That, in turn, will allow Brock Holt and Eduardo Nunez to platoon at third, at least until Rafael Devers returns from his strained hamstring. Assuming Kinsler produces at his customary level the rest of the way, this is a very sensible addition for the Red Sox.

Can football please start so we can move on from random MLB team post on a Duck board? As if there aren’t a million other established Red Sox, Yankee, Cardinals... forums that dedicated fans of those teams can post on and update. This place could turn into hundreds of different team’s sticky’s.

Steve Pearce homers 3 times and the Sox score 8 runs in the fourth inning to come back from a 4-0 deficit to win 15-7. Brian Johnson gets the win filling in for Chris Sale, striking out 11 in 5 innings. Aaron Boone mysteriously pulls CC Sabathia after 3 innings with a 4-2 lead. Thanks Boonie. Boston had 19 hits with Mookie getting 4 of them. AL East lead is now 6.5 games. Big game Friday with Rick Porcello 13-4 going against Severino 14-4. You'd think this will be a pitching duel, but don't be surprised if it's another home fun (intended that pun) derby...GO SAAWWXX!

Eovaldi pitches a masterpiece goes 8 innings giving up no runs, Craig gave up a run and had the bases loaded before getting a flyout for another 4-1. Tonight I get home and it's 4-1 yankees in the ninth and see Boston tie it with three in the ninth, and then Andrew getting the GW hit in the tenth to win. WOW what a series!!! GO SOX!!!!
