The level of shock and amazement by people at ESPN and others regarding this is quite pathetic. It was clear after Gainseville that Urban is not some upstanding person; not after reading reports of the workouts and verbal abuse of players was like before you even get into the sheer number of arrests. We thought Oderinde put the players through bad workouts but Urban had him beat, literally.

oac is certainly going to have a lot of fans in a few weeks.

The site shows the petition was started Thursday by Blake Firestone, who said he is a fan of Ohio State. The goal is 25,000 signatures.
“Urban Meyer is on the hot seat and can be wrongly fired from Ohio State,’’ reads the petition. “... It is up to us Buckeye Nation to help him not just for him but for THE Ohio State University and the great state of Ohio!’’
Firestone directed the petition to Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith with Meyer under siege.
“Hopefully Gene Smith can see this and realize that Buckeye Nation will not tolerate for this,’’ he wrote.

Meanwhile, support for Meyer also seems to be building for a rally scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday outside Ohio State’s football stadium. Jeff Hamms, a self-described avid Ohio State fan who is organizing the event, has used Facebook to spread the word.
“Bring your signs, paint your face, do whatever you’ve got to do,’’ Hamms said Sunday in a video. “We want to be heard. We want our coach back.”

Bring your signs, stand up and let your voice be heard! Let the world know that domestic violence is A-OK and we fully support a coach that would cover it up and lie to the press about it! We are THE Ohio State University and WE SUPPORT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE! Side note, WE ALSO COVER UP THE RAPING OF MALE WRESTLERS AS WELL! (and possibly something with the swim team??) Buckeye Nation FOR LIFE!!!!

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The investigation of Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer's handling of a domestic violence complaint against a former assistant is expected to be completed within 14 days, the school announced in a statement Sunday night.

Per the school's release, the special, independent working group formed to direct the investigation met late in the week, appointed a chair and engaged an investigative firm. Former Ohio House Speaker Jo Ann Davidson was picked to serve as chair of the group, which is composed of three current members of the board of trustees, Alex Fischer, Janet Porter and Alex Shumate, and two others not associated with the university, former acting U.S. Deputy Attorney General Craig Morford and former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio Carter Stewart.
Former chair of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Mary Jo White will lead the investigative team. White is a senior chair with the national law firm Debevoise & Plimpton and is a former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. White has worked on several cases for the NFL, most recently leading the investigation into accusations of workplace misconduct by Panthers owner Jerry Richardson.

"Ohio State is committed to a thorough and complete investigation," Davidson said in the statement. "We look forward to sharing the results of this investigation and any action the university may take."

According to the release, the group will be available to provide consultation and advice and will assist with communication to the full board on matters concerning the investigation. Decisions about actions, based on the findings of the investigation, will be made by Ohio State president Michael V. Drake in consultation with the board of trustees.

"Ohio State is committed to a thorough and complete investigation,"

2 weeks should be plenty of time to wrap up something so trivial....

2 weeks is enough time for the outrage to die down, give him a 2 week suspension and get back to football. Anyone who thought Meyer might lose his job was/is delusional. His statement passed the blame onto whomever he allegedly told, he'll never be on the hook for keeping him on staff until it was made public. If he actually did pass the information up like he said then this is an even bigger problem. Why didn't the university investigate this and fire then man earlier. People are being fired left and right just over an allegation and the only thing that seems to have happened was that Meyer and potentially the University swept it under the rug hoping no one looked underneath it.

Two weeks is plenty of time to corroborate what Urban said in his press release Friday. If he told his boss, then he won’t get fired, it’s pretty cut and dry IMO. The hammer is going to fall on someone and I’m betting at this point, it’s going to fall on someone above Urban on the org chart. They’ll come out and conclude Urb did report the 2015 incident (despite what he said at media day), can the AD or someone of the ilk and reinstate Meyer. There’s no way in hell he gets let go. 73-8, or whatever absurd W/L record he has at OSU, speaks much louder than this issue to their fanbase and decision makers. This investigatory group and higher up will all feign compassion, probably give the victim their “thoughts and prayers” but never actually address any of the issues at hand. I’d personally be calling for my coaches head if this happened at Oregon, regardless of W/L record. Even if the coach did his duty per his contract and reported the issue up the chain, why the hell would you retain a guy like that?

Elevenwarriors.com (generously?) estimated the total crowd at 200-250. Not a big turnout in a city of nearly 900,000 and a metro area over 2 million.

I was referring to Meyer retaining Smith. He’s at Ohio State and successful. Meyer could can Smith and have another top flight WR coach on staff by the next day.

A surprisingly low count. The people in the picture are all carrying signs depicting Meyer as being a victim in all of this. Does their small number mean that "Save Urban" is not the uppermost thought for the masses?

May I never ever be so into "my team" that I lose all sense of morals and refuse to see it when its leader ought to go.

You sure were, my bad. It turns out that Meyer didn't fire Smith out of loyalty to his late grandfather, Earl Bruce, whom Meyer holds in very high esteem.
