Portland Trail Blazers 2018/19

Post by Merganzer »

Blazers 128- 119.The Blazers hosted Lebron & the Lakers in the opener for both teams. The Lakers were competitive early, built up a good lead, but The Blazers led, 65-63 at halftime. It was 93-91 after three. Solid games for the big 3, Lillard, 26, McCollum, 21, Nurkic, 16, and 8 rebounds. A highlight was Nik Stauskas, 24 points. James also had 26. It's a league leading 18th straight home opening win for Portland.

Stauskas was a pleasant surprise but doubt we get that regularly from him.

Collins was great too.

Nice to get a win, despite Lillard, McCollum and Nurkic playing subpar the majority of the game.

my man crush on zach collins grows. maybe instead of striving for the all-nba defensive team, nurk should strive to be the best defensive big in the rotation.

Definitely encouraging to see the contribution from the bench. Looks like Stauskas is going to end up being a great signing for the price. Too bad it's only for one year.

i agree completely. the bench was such a huge question mark coming into the season, it was nice to see the lead actually expand once we started subbing in.

If he can figure out how to not average 9 fouls per 48 minutes, I’ll get excited. I actually thought Meyers played well last night, which are words that hurt my soul to say. Nurk was awful, shown by his -17 +/-. I certainly hope it was just him trying too hard and not indictative of things to come. Stauskas was amazing. If he can do half of what he did last night on a consistent basis, the bench might not be as much of a wasteland as originally thought.

Collins with an impressive 4 fouls in 15 minutes of PT tonight. He now has 9 fouls in 41 minutes this season. That seems sustainable.

Well he has a +/- of +35 so far. That's the best on the team. 2nd best is Turner with +26.

How much of that was generated in the first game when Stauskas went nuclear from deep? Not doubting the guy has been solid in his PT this season but he’s no help if he can’t stay on the floor.

He was +11 in the Spurs game and played the 4th until the benches cleared with 3 minutes. Had another bad ticky tack foul called on him earlier tonight already but outside of the fouls, there is a lot to be impressed about with this start to the season from him that has nothing to do with Sauce Castillo.

Wizards 125 Blazers 124. Too much Markieff Morris tonight. The Wizards forward finished with 28, 17 coming in the 4th quarter & OT. For 3 seconds it looked like Nick Stauskas had won the game for the Blazers, drilling a 3 from in front of the Wizards bench. But :13 was too much time and Bradley Beal tied it up with a 3, leaving Portland with 6.6. Inbound pass to Lillard, drive to the basket, layup blocked by Beall. OT. McCollum got the first points, but a 3 from Morris put the Wizards up 1. Nurkic scored on the other end, Blazers 115-114. A 3 by Kelly Oubre puts Washington up 117-115. Lillard drove by the whole team on the other end and slammed down a left handed dunk to tie it up. A 3 by Morris puts the Wizards up by 4 with 38.7 to go. McCollum 3, gets the Blazers to 125-124. John Wall missed two free throws, Blazers down by 1 with 5.3 left, Lillard takes it to the basket, but is denied by Otto Porter Jr. Blazers lose their first, 2-1, Wizards win their first, 1-2. Lillard & McCollum were 3-19 on 3's. Morris made 6 of his own.
