BIG GAMES this weekend
Games with playoff implications on Saturday:
https://www.vegasinsider.com/college-football/matchups/
Not too much respect for the Golden Gophers, though the "Coming off a big win" would fit here.
9-0 Minnesota @ 6-3 Iowa -3
A bad game against the other USC is keeping Georgia down. 8-1 Georgia -3 @ 7-2 Auburn
Oklahoma almost blew it against Iowa State, Baylor hasn't lost yet, 8-1 OK -9.5 @ 9-0 Baylor
Ohio State is @ Rutgers, Wake Forest @ Clemson, UCLA @ Utah, Alabama @ Ms. St, LSU @ Ole Miss. Indiana @ Penn St.

Re: Big games this weekend
I predict Oregon will be at 6 this week. Assuming Minnesota wins, Oregon will fall to 8 next week. If Baylor wins too they'll still be undefeated. I don't think the committee can put 2 undefeated teams behind a 1 loss Oregon that late in the season. If Oklahoma wins they'll certainly get a bumpMerganzer wrote:Games with playoff implications on Saturday:

Re: BIG GAMES this weekend
Penn State @ Ohio State -17 (9:00, FOX)… Ohio State is probably still in if it loses this one, Penn State is out with 2 L's
Minnesota -7 @ Northwestern (9:00, ABC)...They keep rowin' the boat, but took on some water last week.
Texas A & M @ Georgia -14 (12:30, CBS)... Not much of a chance for A & M, but Go, Jimbo!!
UCLA @ USC -14 (12:30, ABC}… It would help if USC kept winning and got ranked.
Texas @ Baylor -6 (12:30, FS1)… The more losses for Baylor, the less impressive win for Oklahoma.

If those are the biggest games of the weekend, I won't mind being out hunting deer this Saturday. After PSU vs. tOSU, not much there.

It’s a pretty blah weekend for the top teams. Aside from conference championships, the only big game is next weekend, Ohio St at Michigan.

Penn State vs. Ohio State is not a big game? Talk about conditioned by ESPN to believe the world revolves around the SEC West.

Yes. This is a big game, even though Ohio State is a heavy favorite doesn't mean the outcome isn't important. When a win virtually locks up one of the 4 places for Ohio St. the game is important. In the remotest of chances that Penn State wins? There's a chance that 2016 could repeat itself: Penn State beats Ohio State, wins the conference championship,,,and Ohio State goes to the CFP. Because the "eye test" says that Ohio State is one of the best 4 teams.Phalanx wrote:Penn State vs. Ohio State is not a big game? The "eye test" is BULLSHIT! If you beat a team head up you're better than them until the next time you play them, period!

Re: BIG GAMES this weekend
I agree that the "eye test" is a concept that should be banned from any discussion; because it means nothing at anytime, for anytime. If a team beats another team it was better than them in that game. Period. Upsets happen. At the end of a season, the head to head can be included when the body of work is evaluated. The, "eye test" & "If's" are both incorrectly used in making cases for teams. The former deals in hypotheticals; "If (team) played (team's) schedule, they'd be undefeated" hyperbole; "they have so much talent". The latter; excuses: "if"( anything that happened, didn't happen, the result would've been different). Both are substitutes when actual results don't match up with your conclusion.nogerO wrote:Merganzer wrote:Yes.
