There's certainly pros and cons to MH. By all accounts a nice guy but.....
He was not exactly stellar during his time at Colorado and quite honestly they were glad when he left. He is definetly not head coach material. There was more rancor and discord in the locker room when he was head coach than most were aware of. Some guys on the team literally hated him. Yeah, he got Oregon to the NCG game and was instrumental in finding MM but not much beyond that.
It's telling that his name rarely surfaces for openings.

The Eastern Washington OC just resigned mid-season. Could be someone that is at-play for the doogs.

Any insights on why he resigned mid-season?StevensTechU wrote:The Eastern Washington OC just resigned mid-season. Could be someone that is at-play for the doogs.

Yeah, they hated him so much at Colorado, they wanted to interview him for the head coaching gig after they fired MacIntyre in 2018.lmduck wrote:There's certainly pros and cons to MH. By all accounts a nice guy but.....

Helfrich reportedly wasn't interested.
I think everyone knows about the rancor and discord - it's the most played-out narrative in existence regarding why Helfrich got fired. Nobody here is advocating for him to be head coach. As for his name surfacing, I just pointed out two jobs for which he is a leading name - probably the two highest profile O.C. job openings in the Western half of the U.S. His name popped up for those jobs literally while we were talking about him in this thread, and this is several years after he refused to pursue jobs at Colorado and UCLA. I think if he wanted to be an O.C. somewhere, he would be.
