Re: Draft File (chance to grip, please read)
How do the player ratings change from year to year? Is it based on how they did in real life? Or does the ratings just adjust and change based upon the ratings they currently have?

Re: Draft File (chance to grip, please read)
For the most part they will stay the same. Older players(mid to late 30s) are likely going to decline a bit and younger players(especially with A potential) are likely to jump up in ratings. From ages say 25-32 though players likely won't see a difference in their rankings.rpmunn wrote:How do the player ratings change from year to year? Is it based on how they did in real life? There's an actual phase after draft/free agency called 'training camp', and that's where ratings change.

But, by the way the program works, there is no TC after this draft. What you see is what you get, at least for one season.UOducksTK1 wrote:There's an actual phase after draft/free agency called 'training camp', and that's where ratings change.

What I was wondering is if a guy has good attributes, but say had a big injury in real life in 1989. Is he going to fall off the map ratings wise because of that injury that happened in real life?

No. It's a simulation league so whatever happened in the NBA after this point has no impact on our league.
Also, injuries will not negatively impact the ratings of any given player. They just won't be able to play until they are fully recovered.

Re: Draft File (chance to grip, please read)
While we try and make player ratings as close to real as possible at the start things won't always play out exactly the same as they do in real life. For example, Shawn Kemp might not come out until he is like 22 instead of 19. I have also seen Dorrell Wright be a 1st team All-NBA cause he is a good outside shooter, and I have seen a guy who was the #1 pick in a draft be a total flop.rpmunn wrote:What I was wondering is if a guy has good attributes, but say had a big injury in real life in 1989. .380% from downtown in '89 with over 200 attempts. I saw that too but if you look at the year he had it is fine.lukeyrid13 wrote:Jack Sikma A- outside shot?

Re: Draft File (chance to grip, please read)
Could someone please kindly explain what the In, Out, etc... means? I'm guessing In means inside scoring, Out means outside scoring, have no idea what Hn means, Df means defense, Reb is rebounding, and Pot is potential.

Re: Draft File (chance to grip, please read)
inside is post offense and inside scoring
Outside is mid range and 3pt
midrange controls the FT accuracy.
HN is handling. A combonation of passing, handling (TO propensity)

Re: Draft File (chance to grip, please read)
there are underneath ratings you cannot see, each of those contributes to the various ratingsRanDux wrote:Could someone please kindly explain what the In, Out, etc... means? Inside is made up entirely of a players Inside Scoring, Jumping, and Strength, in that weighted order (so inside carries the most, then jumping)
Outside is only made up of a players Jump Shot and Three Point Shot
Handles is made up of Handles (ability to avoid Turnovers), Quickness, but mostly is based upon passing, so a Guy with A+ handles may still have turnover issues. 100 Quickness and Handles with 5 Passing constitutes only a D+ Handles rating.
Defense is a combination of Quickness, Strength, Drive D, Perimeter D, Post D, Steals, and Blocks. This is weighted differently by position.
Rebounding is made up of Offensive Rebounding, Defensive Rebounding, Strength, and Quickness. Sorry, dont know the order of weight on that
