Pistons Trade:
SG Iman Shumpert
PG Marcus Smart
Pistons 2018 1st

Heat Trade:
SF Paul George

Heat accept. Probably not getting as much as I should back for PG but like Smart and this team is going nowhere.

Not great value, but not the worst. Getting your own pick back is huge with the direction the team is going. Like for the Pistons a bit more, but definitely like for both.

Wait, I don't see anywhere the heat pick is owed to Detroit previously? If this Detroit's '18 pick then it's really not good value for George. Pistons should be a good basketball team with adding him and not giving up much.

Accept.

Really needed an upgrade and sending two younger prospects and a 1st wasn't my ideal situation, but everyone else offering SF's were either overvaluing their own players way too much or it wasn't much of an upgrade from Prince.

That's really good value for George. I think this is panic move by Pistons.

I agree. I like this for the Heat.
You essentially asked for this same deal for Rudy Gay and more for Tobias? You are telling me Paul George is worse than both of those two?

Pistons tried to give up Shumpert for free a few offseasons back and nobody took him. He's got Brooks and Teague as a solid back up option, both for the next two seasons. No guarantees that Smart will stay with the Pistons. And he's giving up a first that will likely be in the 20's. All for a position that he desperately needs. He's also getting PG for 5 years. I don't see how people are not liking this more for the pistons. Heat already have Reggie Jackson running point. I think it's a solid trade for both.

Smart is going to run the point now. Jackson at the 2.

I think this trade could go either way. Will Smart and Shumpert pan out? That's the question, but it's a gamble Heat were willing to take. A little surprising considering he's already got Jackson, but I'd guess Jackson will be moved here pretty soon.
