Second in his first race, qualifies for semifinal. I think somewhere around 13.14

Thanks for not posting the results in the header, I've been ducking the radio and news all day so to watch the race on nbc. He looked good for a Olympic rookie, he was listed as second place but the first place hurdler and Allen both finished at 13.41, you just mixed up the last two numbers, but he actually tied for first. Until tomorrow for the semi's.

Finished 3rd in his heat with a 13.36 and former Duck Jonathan Cabral was right behind him with a 13.41. As of now, they're the top 2 non-automatic qualifying times with one heat remaining. He was in a loaded heat so hopefully that helps him make it to the finals with his fast time.

Allen and Cabral are into the finals after a slower final heat.

Allen finishes 5th and Cabral 6th. Not bad for a part-time hurdler.

He hit several hurdles at the end - it looked like he might have a chance for bronze with about a third to go. Pretty awesome to see a current duck in the race. Hopefully he is back in 4 years.

Absolutely....21yrs old and competing against more mature/experienced athletes that train full time for this event.

I hope that Devon comes back to Oregon and continue to develop in both football and track.

Hopefully he gets two more cracks at the Olympics before all is said and done. Good run for Devon, especially coming off an ACL tear not all that long ago.

My bro was telling me if he had run his best time this year, he would have won the gold.

Not quite. He would have won silver.

Actually it would have. The winning time was 13.05 while Devon's best time is 13.03.

We should also remember that the particular track surface can affect things. Devon is very accustomed to running at Hayward, which could be a slightly "faster" track than the one at Rio. But it looked like Allen at least nicked most of the hurdles -- and creamed some of them. Had his form been cleaner, who knows. But this is another whole stage of competition and a great experience for Devon.
