Signing FA's During Season - Contract Terms
As mentioned in the questions thread, should we allow teams who have cap space after the FA period the right to sign players with their remaining cap space. Example: Lakers currently have $16,841,159 in cap space. If they wanted to sign a current FA, could they sign them for 5 million?
Currently, when you sign a FA, you get the player at their minimum salary but if approved, this would allow teams who have cap space the ability to sign players to whatever salary terms they want for one year.
Please vote if you approve or reject this new rule.

I think it'll make it more interesting for teams who miss out on FAs and open up new trade scenarios.

I don't see why not. It doesn't do anything for rebuilding teams/teams with cap space, but it could help a contending team by getting a tradeable contract back instead of the cap hit going just to the other team's cap space.
And this can pretty much already happen if a rebuilding team with cap space just throws out a big contract or two for some scrub(s) on days 4-5 of FA. Just makes it easier.

What are the theoretical arguments against this idea?

Re: Signing FA's During Season - Contract Terms
I suppose I could try to supply a few:
#1) It's always been that way!
#2) It makes tradebacks much easier, which if you don't like those then it makes sense to also dislike this.
That's pretty much it tbh. I tried.

Teams with cap space will be able to sign players to 1 year deals for any amount with their cap space.
