It's basically an S&C coach who's specialty is to improve athletes' speed and quickness.Alan wrote:Director of speed and performance coach is new to me, what type of job description does would he have?greenyellow wrote:Oregon has brought in Jarwarski Beckum from Ole Miss as the new director of speed and performance. Re: Dan Lanning and...
Really good article about Dan Lanning from 2016, and his now known story of showing up unannounced at the Pitt football offenses to ask for a job on Todd Graham’s staff: https://archive.commercialappeal.com/sp ... 2631.html/
The thing that stood out to me was this quote from Mike Norvell, who was co-OC at Pitt when Lanning was hired for $800/month to be a defensive analyst: "Dan was always a guy that kind of stuck out to me," Norvell said. "I always knew that if I had an opportunity to be a head coach, Dan was going to be a guy that I wanted on my staff."

So is the new strategy to hire a bunch of recruiters and call them “analysts”? Are there limitations on analysts’ interactions with recruits?greenyellow wrote:

How long until we have a "scouting" department that attends games, watches film, etc.

Analysts are essentially like the scouting department you're mentioning. Here's a good article someone posted in another forum that kind of helps explain the role of the analysts. It's an old article from 2016, but the basics still apply:DuckMastaFunk wrote:Gotcha. Thanks for the info.
