So much for Herbert not supposedly being a first-round worthy QB after he won the MVP at today's Senior Bowl:

Very fun reading all the praise circulating for Justin as a result of his week at the Senior Bowl. People are starting to whisper that the gap between him and Burrow is not very big. I'm just hoping he gets drafted by a team with an O-Line.

I have no NFL team. But I’m watching it with interest to see how Armstead and DeFo do. Armstead has a great year after a slow start to his career and DeFo made 2nd team All Pro. It’s great to see their success. I knew DeFo would be one of the best DTs in the NFL but I didn’t expect this type of year from Armstead.

NFL combine invites, most we've had in a while:

Jake Breeland, Troy Dye, Jake Hanson, Justin Herbert, Juwan Johnson, Shane Lemiuex, Calvin Throckmorton.

Impressive development, since everyone except Juwan was a 3-star recruit.

Not bad for a staff that couldn't recruit!

(Before anyone gets their panties in a bunch, I also remember all the shortcomings of the staff and was glad when they made the change.)

There's an ointment for that... Although Shaq uses Gold Bond.

This also probably takes the Colts out of the running to pick Herbert, one of the more plausible landing spots for him.

I been a Colts fan since Peyton and am glad to see them get somebody that good and a ex duck. Last year they had the most money to spend in Free agency with the Jets, and didn't spend much of it last year. This offseason they the most I think and now glad to see them spend a lot of it on DEFO.

$17 mil a year for Armstead, and $21 for DeFo. If those are both five year deals that's $190 million, dang they got paid. DeFo is now the second highest paid DT behind Aaron Donald, well deserved for the monster years he's had in San Francisco. DeFo just makes everyone around him better.

Niners kept the wrong guy, IMO. Should have paid Defo and traded Armstead.

Oh well, maybe they can make it up to me by drafting Herbert to back up Jimmy G.

They couldn't trade Armstead since he was a FA and there's no such thing as a sign-and-trade in the NFL. They got the most bang for their buck as it's better to have Armstead/1st rounder versus Buckner/3rd-4th round compensatory pick.

Ya what Greenyellow said, AA wouldn't have netted that high of a pick. A 1st round pick is good value if you use it right.

Cool to see AA get paid a lot. He had a really strong year this season.
