Would-Be 2 Deep
I was taking a trip down memory lane earlier and was thinking about players that could have been on our roster for this season in the 2-deep, but are not for one reason or another.
Austin Maloata - DT - JR
Wayne Tei-Kirby - DT - SO
Darren Carrington - WR - SR
Tristen Wallace - WR - SO
Terry Wilson/Travis Jonsen - QB - FR/SO
Eric Briscoe Jr - OLB - SO (What happened to Briscoe? I just realized he wasn't on the roster)
Jalen Brown - WR - JR
Kirk Merritt - WR - JR
Rex Manu - DT - SO (injury)
Dylan Kane - WR/S - JR

To boot, I really wish Mundt had redshirted one year (probably sophomore year). Would love to have him this year, and having his in the same class as Baylis and Pharaoh was a giant waste.

Yeah, totally agreed about Mundt.
Briscoe left after the first offseason workout. Not sure where he's at now.

Other than Rex, the only player that I would really care to see on the roster is Tristan Wallace. I am not saying anything about what he did (or allegedly did) just that I would have loved to see his talent at TE.

I think Wallace could have turned out like Evan Engram from Ole Miss, a slot/TE hybrid.

I heard that he looked great and fluid at WR. Too bad he was an idiot.lukeyrid13 wrote:I think Wallace could have turned out like Evan Engram from Ole Miss, a slot/TE hybrid.

I would put Darrian Franklin on that list too at LB. At the very least, he'd be another body in the mix.

Yea, basically made a judgement call that he wouldn't be in the 2-deep. He had the body of a safety.Duck24 wrote:I would put Darrian Franklin on that list too at LB. At the very least, he'd be another body in the mix.

Canton Kaumatule is another one to add to this list. Massive recruit that didn't work out.
Jalen Brown was the big head scratcher for me. Could have started this year.

He didn't want to play second fiddle to Carrington. Should be a lesson in patience now.GrantDuck wrote:Canton Kaumatule is another one to add to this list. Massive recruit that didn't work out.

He's getting a masters degree from one of the top colleges in the United States. For free.GrantDuck wrote: Jalen Brown was the big head scratcher for me. Could have started this year.
