2018 Schedule Announced

Post by Greenblood »

Just dates and teams, not times of course. I like the bye before the UW game (UW plays the week before @ UCLA: http://pac-12.com/football/schedule/20180825-20181205). Conference wise, we start with both Bay Area schools, then both WA schools; our Pac-12 North schedule is finished, except for the Civil War, on Oct. 20. Then we play all of our South opponents on four consecutive Saturdays.

Sept. 1 Bowling Green
Sept. 8 Portland State
Sept. 15 San Jose State
Sept. 22 Stanford
Sept. 29 at California
Oct. 6 OPEN
Oct. 13 Washington
Oct. 20 at Washington State
Oct. 27 at Arizona
Nov. 3 UCLA
Nov. 10 at Utah
Nov. 17 Arizona State
Nov. 23 (Fri.) at Oregon State

Just for fun it would have been awesome to schedule Alabama for 2018. We both had the same week open for the longest time, while everyone else's schedules were already full. Instead I believe we chose San Jose State. Would like to hear all of the teams we reached out to or that reached out to us before these decisions were made.

Well it means we've got a chance to have the North wrapped up before November if we can get off to a strong start and manicure the poodles, especially with an enormous Vea sized hole in the middle of their defense.

I see 12-0 with a solid offense and and an improved top 30 Defense with our new Coach DC building on the foundation former Coach Pepsi set in motion.

Unless we're hunting for the Natty next year and want a spot in the playoff, the lousy OOC won't really make a difference. 3 pretty easy games to adjust the offense to life without Royce Freeman will pay dividends in the meat of the schedule.

Agreed

The first 3 games will be auditioning for TBJ's backfield running mates. The problem will be the offensive line will so dominate these games, even I would look good running the ball. I'm not sure if we as fans will get a true picture of who runs the ball well when the hole is not at the designed point of attack until Stanford.

With this schedule, to get in to the playoffs you have to go 12-0, hope the South champ has some quality wins and beat them in the Conference Championship game.

2018 is the year to make some waves. Veteran O-line, 3 year starter at QB. 2019 (assuming Herbert leaves) we'll have young QB's , 2020 will have a major rebuild on the offensive line. 2021 is a long time to wait, so 2018, Get er done.

if it's SC, they play Texas and Notre Dame, and they miss us and UW. You could, in theory, get an undefeated SC and Oregon in the Pac 12 title, the winner of that extremely hypothetical matchup gets in the playoff for sure.
