Ducks 2017 Seniors - Losing Some Good Players

Post by SuperDuck »

I was just looking at this to see how many seniors we're losing and it's a pretty significant number. It shouldn't have nearly as much of an impact next year, but there are going to be some holes to fill next year for sure.

I thought it made sense to post who we'd still have on the roster, too.

If you're looking at thev phone app it only shows the freshman, but if you look at full website they're all there

Yeah there is a lot of experience in that list of seniors. Some big time guys too. Gonna miss them.

Crazy to me that we have several seniors that played in a national title game. Interesting ride their career has been.

I see Casey Eugenio is listed as a junior. Moseley’s practice report yesterday referred to him as a senior whose career is now over because of a practice injury. The team is wearing a helmet sticker in the bowl game in his honor.

Eugenio might be a senior academically but a RS junior athletically.

Just by numbers, think about what's going to happen when this year's freshman are seniors. That's about half the team.

Yep. Out of the 22 seniors listed there are apx 16-18 regular contributors. We're losing Royce Freeman and Kani Benoit, 2 of our biggest, best and most experienced running backs. Losing an awesome kicker in Aiden Schneider, an all-world LT in Tyrell Crosby, who's likely a 1st round draft pick. Charles Nelson, who could have been an all-world receiver if Herbert had stayed healthy, and several more guys. We're definitely losing a lot of experience on both the OL and DL.

I wish I knew how many of the freshman are redshirts and what the outlook is on those guys based on playing for the scout team.

Also, we don't lose many juniors in 2019. If Justin Herbert were to come back for his senior year I'm almost certain we could make a playoff run. If I'm not mistaken, we have a non-conference game vs Ohio State at home that year. If we win that and can get through conference play with no more than 1 loss, we'd almost certainly be in. That's assuming Ohio State is a great team as usual. Just looking ahead at the possibilities. :)

I always use Chile Ducks's depth chart since I like the visuals of it. You can also select certain features like see who last years redshirts were, who this years incoming players are, who the returning starters are, star rating and who is a walk-on etc.

https://web.nmsu.edu/~ogden/oregon/depthchart.html

What stands out to me is the ST unit and while the first name people will go to is Schneider, Tanner Carew the LS has never had to worry about having his name called during a game.

Any word about Malik Young's shot at an extra year? We've got 3 young guys we can use to anchor but getting more quality depth behind the starters at DE is important.

Great post superduck! It really sinks in seeing it in black and white like that, Cristobal and boys better be ready....... next man up and a little bit of a soft schedule next year.

Aren't this years seniors the last class Nick Aliotti helped recruit? Shows the behind the scenes impact he had on the program.
