Ducks Scholarship Tracker 2019 *UPDATED 6/3*
I thought this would be helpful so we have an idea where depth is needed and where we stand as far as scholarship numbers.
I only included those on our official roster and those who have signed,
UPDATE 6/3:
Added the new guys (including Steele) and dropped the guys who are transferring. Also moved a few guys around considering what they played this pring. It looks like we're still a couple of guys over.

If I'm a highly ranked 2020 recruit, OLB, OL, and QB positions looking nice. Also DT potentially as well.

I think we will lose: 1 safety, 2 WR, 1 RB and maybe 1 OL
Also, I belive Haki Woods was only a 1 for 1 guy and he's already off the roster, no?

Yeah, I thought so too, but he's listed on the roster as a SR.lukeyrid13 wrote:I think we will lose: 1 safety, 2 WR, 1 RB and maybe 1 OL

Poutasi on this list is a surprise - isn't he suing the university? I would have thought he would be leaving the team or getting a medical redshirt. Also, I wonder if Ryan Bay is actually on scholarship next year.
I think Haki Woods is done. He played a year at Indiana State and two at Pima Community College before coming to Oregon.

Re: Ducks Scholarship Tracker 2019
I'll chime in with everyone saying Haki Woods ran out of eligibility, but perhaps they are appealing as they expected him to be a junior in 2018. The NCAA is awful at JuCo guys eligibility, see Malik Young. I think Woods has played 4 seasons, so not sure if one of them was injury shortened or something.
I thought Steven Jones would be a redshirt freshman. but we played him in five games. Probably shouldn't have played him against PSU.
For my guesses on attrition I'll go with: Sam Poutasi, Bryson Young, Billy Gibson, Cody Shear.
Worst scholarship? I was not impressed with Tom Snee. Blake Maimone seemed way better, I don't know why they consider Snee some direcrtional specialist.

They both were pretty bad.

Re: Ducks Scholarship Tracker 2019
Over the years my expectations from Oregon punters have been tempered. I actually think they both represent a significant upgrade over anything outside of Jackson Rice that Oregon has had in the past. Don't get me wrong...neither is great, but they aren't as atrocious as some of the previous punters we've had come through.FlDuckFan wrote:GoDucksTroll wrote:I'll chime in with everyone saying Haki Woods ran out of eligibility, but perhaps they are appealing as they expected him to be a junior in 2018. Blake Maimone finished averaging 42.5 yards per punt. Tom Snee averaged 35.2. Maimone had the 42nd best punting average in FBS.FlDuckFan wrote:GoDucksTroll wrote:I'll chime in with everyone saying Haki Woods ran out of eligibility, but perhaps they are appealing as they expected him to be a junior in 2018. Maimone is way better than Snee or Ian Wheeler, so that's been an upgrade. Our punting game could be better, but it improved quite a bit from the last few years.
I also loved that fake punt Maimone turned into a 28 yard pass to the goal line.

Re: Ducks Scholarship Tracker 2019
Just looking at yards per punt can be deceptive though, especially when it seems they are using punters situationally. A 35 yard punt that pins a team at the 10 yard line is more valuable than a 50 yard punt that results in a touchback. I'm not even trying to say Snee is better than Maimone or equal. I just don't have a recollection of each of their punts to be able to determine which was situationally better. If there is a stat that shows number of punts that ended inside the 20, I think it'd add a little more context to these stats.GoDucksTroll wrote:FlDuckFan wrote:GoDucksTroll wrote:I'll chime in with everyone saying Haki Woods ran out of eligibility, but perhaps they are appealing as they expected him to be a junior in 2018. Snee has really just learned the art of punting, as well. So there's surely room for improvement. I believe this year was his first punting in any kind of competitive setting. I think it's too early to call his scholarship a complete waste.

Kurtis Doerr and Josh Bidwell were both better than Jackson Rice so you are clearly forgetting something.
