Wow! USC got hosed
RPI of 34. Second in PAC. Made it to conference championship game. Nine Q1 and Q2 wins. First Big 6 school to get left out with an RPI < 40.
But let ASU in?? Lose 6 of last 7 with only win coming against Cal. Dump first game of tourney. Losing conference record. RPI of 65.
Terrible.

Agreed. Can't see the love for ASU. LA got screwed in general. SC should be in the 64, but get sent to the NIT, while the Bruins, with a win over KY, and a better conference & overall record join the Sun Devils in the play-in round.

There are whispers that it has to do with the fact that USC is under investigation, along with Oklahoma State, who also didn't get picked. On its face, the Trojans' exclusion does look like a royal screw job.

Re: Wow! USC got hosed
Then Zona? But no way ASU deserves to get in before SC. Complete sh*t. For gods sake UO swept them. What else would you expect from the morons in charge. Oklahoma? WTF? How many games did Oklahoma lose down the stretch? They suck. They fell down the stretch like ASU. Putting teams in that got worse as the season progressed is sh*tty observation. No respect for the committee. Zero.Phalanx wrote:There are whispers that it has to do with the fact that USC is under investigation, along with Oklahoma State, who also didn't get picked. Seems the selection committee went to a new quadrant system for picking teams, valuing road and neutral-site wins over home and overall wins and RPI. Not sure why they went to this method when the old one was working just fine.

Not a USC fan by any means but they got screwed hard lol. The Pac in general got hosed this year :/
We're not super strong but UCLA, USC, and Arizona are still pretty good talent wise. Yet 2/3 are in play in games and Arizona faced Kentucky and Virginia in the same region..... I have a feeling that Xavier and Villanova are weaker 1 seeds

No Pac-12 member on the committee. Should never EVER let that happen.

Yet the quadrants are determined by RPI, it's very stupid.greenyellow wrote:Seems the selection committee went to a new quadrant system for picking teams, valuing road and neutral-site wins over home and overall wins and RPI. Oklahoma State has as good of an argument as anyone. Beat Kansas twice, West Virginia, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Texas.
I am by no means a conspiracy theorist but I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the bubble schools implicated in the FBI scheme are the ones who got the shaft (Oklahoma State and Louisville). Not that USC was or should have been a bubble team by any stretch of the imagination but sketchy at best by the selection committee.
What is the justification for Syracuse getting in? Marquee wins against Miami and Clemson with an 11th place losing record regular season ACC finish? You could argue that Oregon has a better resume than Syracuse.
