I just heard that Troy Brown is going to the draft. Too bad, he could’ve helped a lot next year.

Yes, the more Ducks in the NBA the better.

Gotta think him leaving costs the team 3 wins next season. Bummer.

Completely the right choice for him. He's raw, but his upside is attractive for a late teen or early 20s pick.

No doubt. It'll be interesting to see how we round this class out.

Kinda expected this. That opens up another spot for Altman.

He was a bit young for his class so it's his upside that many are after. I suspect that had he stayed at Oregon for his SO year, we would have seen a big step up from him.

Officially on board saying Troy Brown made a big mistake.

Time will tell. He'll spend the next 2 seasons on the bus in the G-League, even if he does get that 1st round money.

and you might be right, many 1st rounders spend time in the g-league -- especially those selected outside the lottery. doesn't mean it's not the right decision for him. playing against other professionals in the g-league and getting to work on his craft 24/7 can develop his game more than playing another year of college ball.

There are also benefits to staying in college. Besides the obvious opportunity for an education they can mature and learn to make better decisions. The size of the NBA paycheck doesn't really matter to the 60% who are bankrupt within 5 years of retirement. A college education does.

Personally I detest the one and done. Use the baseball model, go pro directly from high school or wait three years. Interesting that the Final Four this year didn't have any one year wonders.

I too think this was a mistake. He is of little use in the NBA as a playmaker for others considering he struggled as a point-forward this season. He is young and raw, but he has good work ethic and should become a solid pro. I wish him the best.

I understand the crux of this argument. The G-League is absolutely a better place to be a full time professional athlete that can do nothing but train 24/7. No classes, parties, distractions, NCAA bullshit.

However, the G-League is about on AAU level as far as a place to develop how to play as a team at both ends. Which to me is the largest thing outside of a jumpshot that Brown needs.

That, and I do think there's a risk of him not going in the 1st round. Might be like 20%, but still a pretty significant risk when you're talking the difference between 3 million and 26k a year.
