Ducks come up short and lose 77-72.

Good fight at the end. But people shouldn't be surprised, this team looks like it's full of walk ons and lost the only P12 caliber left in Bol.

At what point do fans start to criticize Altman?

Problem is I don't know if these guys coming in really care about the college season. Most look ready to go to NBA or transfer to their new schools.
The only ones left are guys who obviously can't compete.
Sad to say people are already looking to next year and are also dreading the future.

Not yet. Altman was nails for 7 straight years. He was a great coach and still is a great coach.OregonFan4Life wrote:At what point do fans start to criticize Altman?
He has made a few critical recruiting mistakes the past two years. As a result, we have some serious talent and experience gaps right now. Still, this team fought their a$$ off tonight. The players clearly still believe in him.
Post season is probably a pipe dream this season. However, Altman has a good class coming in and will have a good basebof players back next season. If he can land a good point guard, we may be in a great position to make a big run next year.

He had great success with grad transfers and the Canadian pipeline...he’s trying to get us the next step and obviously this group has been more miss than hit.

Unfortunately, losing Bol makes this season a big, "What if?" With him, and King, getting better, Wooten returning in a month, this season is pretty good.northbeachsf wrote:Not yet. I have mentioned this in the past, but if you paid attention to the game, it is hard to put into words the complete and total incompetence of Francis Okoro at the moment. Literally every single contribution he made to this game was a negative. On a positive note, he has absolutely nowhere to go but up from here.

Positives from the game... As time expired, my Grandson turned to me and said, "I HATE the beevurz! I will NEVER go to that school!"
Ok, the kid is 10.
The good part is that his father graduated from, and works at, OSeww... He's been diligently trying to indoctrinate the kid with the idea that his alma mater is THE best college in the state, and my grandson needs to go there, because if he does, the tuition for an employee is virtually nil. (Of course, it pretty much applies to any state run University.)

Well we are missing 3 starters and majority of our roster is freshmen and sophomores so having a rough year is going to be expected.OregonFan4Life wrote:At what point do fans start to criticize Altman?

I'd say the recruiting and roster problems start as far back as the 2016 class. From that 2016 class, Pritchard is the sole member who remains, leaving the team with little upperclass leadership and production. The 2017 class is left with Bailey and Wooten, with Bailey being the only healthy member at the moment. The 2018 class was one that seems was likely being counted on too much to fill the voids left by previous recruiting misses. With Bol gone and King still working his way back into playing form, there's not nearly enough contributions from the remaining 2018 members to actually solve what ails them.northbeachsf wrote:Not yet. Still totally with Altman. He's still a top tier coach. The team hasn't given up.
They goofed up on the 2016 recruiting class, that much is clear.
Outside of that, you can't really do much about injuries(King, Bol, Wooten) and selfish players(Kigab).

I think you could say he partially goofed up the 2015 as well. While Dorsey and Boucher were valuable contributors/stars, they got nothing out of anyone else from that class which should be making up the current SR class. Instead, all we have for SRs are two transfers in White and Amin.GrantDuck wrote:Still totally with Altman. He's still a top tier coach. The team hasn't given up.

I can't imagine trying to recruit in the day and age of everyone who doesn't play their first year transferring.
