Well he just brought Bol Bol into itduckfan96 wrote:http://www.espn.com/espn/story/_/id/263 ... t-20m-nike
Wonder if any of what he says is true
Bol Bol and his handlers also received large sums from Nike. The receipts are clear as day. A lot of people at Nike will have to account for their criminal conduct, starting with Carlton DeBose & moving higher up. The diversion charade they orchestrated against me will be exposed

I'm assuming what he says is true. He may be foolish but I doubt he would be so brazen to try to extort Nike if he didn't think he actually uncovered anything.duckfan96 wrote:http://www.espn.com/espn/story/_/id/263 ... t-20m-nike

Is it illegal for Nike to pay AAU coaches and high school players? The whole AAU thing seems like a way to skirt the NCAA rules anyway. I just wonder what a company like Nike is allowed to do. And wouldn't the university only be in trouble if it is shown that the money was used to steer the recruit to Oregon?

My recollection of the Brian Bowen trial is the answer is NO; Gatto committed Wire Fraud and was charged as much, not for violating NCAA rules.karlhungis wrote:I'm assuming what he says is true. The Feds also found that the majority of the schools were considered victims in the specific case as well. Further, he actually was that brazen to try and extort Nike and their attorneys, who met with Geragos and asked for 2 days delay and then got the FBI involved so they could record all of it. I read a few transcripts and its not good for the 2020 Presidential Candidate
Even if a company has committed a crime, its still against the law to extort them for money to not make those crimes public.

This is odd. It’s not like Bol Bol came from a finiancially struggling family. Also, if Bol is all about making a quick buck, why stay with the team? Why not just get started on prep for a pro career?
I guess we have to choose who were going to believe: Nike, Dana Altman and Bol Bol, or an accused wife beating lawyer drenched in so much sleeze he made his porn star client look wholesome in comparison.

Bol Bol's family did have some money problems since Manute Bol basically went broke after suffering injuries in a car crash and didn't have health insurance.

Timing of this couldn't be worse. Let's hope Altman and the team stay focused.

Avenatti is a loser that's going to prison for a very long time and trying to stay relevant before he does.
Don't give him any attention. This shouldn't even be covered by the media except for selling ads.

Just the sort of thing the media loves to write about. Lots of implications to be made and zero responsibility.
Is the conspiracy theory that Bol was paid by Nike to be a one-and-done at Oregon, or did they pay him to eventually be the ultra-cool, handsome, debonair spokesman for a line of size-14 shoes?
He just seems like a funny target for Nike to pay bushels of money to, doesn't he? Does Bol make anyone here want to buy shoes? I can hear the jingle now: 'Sometimes I dream, that Bol is me...Like Bol, if I could be like Bol'.
Of course, I don't pretend to be an expert in the shoe-selling industry.

I don't see any proof, and more importantly I dont see anything linking UO or Altman to this.

With the potential of 300+ years behind bars staring Avenatti in the face, Congress needs to depose him toot sweet... I have no doubt that the offer of immunity would elicit the desired testimony!
