He's probably playing. There's a court order that he's allowed to play for now, and that likely won't change before the next hearing, which isn't until November 18. What's interesting though is that the NCAA might retroactively deem all the games he plays in forfeits, since the school knew the NCAA had declared him ineligible. I've even seen speculation they could forfeit Memphis's whole season, although that seems extreme even by NCAA standards. Either way, it's pretty risky for Memphis to continue playing him.

They had to forfeit an entire season from when Calipari was coach. They probably don't mind at this point.Tray Dub wrote:He's probably playing. Jay Bilas was on last night quoting an NCAA bylaw that states if a school knowingly plays an ineligible player through an injunction, that the NCAA can issue a post season ban. This is a HUGE gamble by Penny and Memphis. No NCAA tourney is big deal and you can bet if the NCAA wins this, they are going to lay the hammer down to prevent something like this from ever happening again.

I don't see a long-life for the NCAA with the massive change to paying players. Why do you need an eligibility department and why would you worry about whether they are actual student-athletes anymore? Do you really care if someone can't pass College Algebra? We know most people already take umbrage with transfer rules when Coaches, AD's and Professors can all move to another school and not have to sit-out.northbeachsf wrote:Jay Bilas was on last night quoting an NCAA bylaw that states if a school knowingly plays an ineligible player through an injunction, that the NCAA can issue a post season ban. I'll be at the game! Pumped it's in Portland. There's a lot of available tickets though so probably won't be a big home court advantage sadly..

Bilas is correct re: Wiseman. A good chance Memphis ends up with a vacated season based on their stubbornness. Interesting gamble though!
As far as the game, I haven't seen Memphis, so I don't have a lot of comment other than I hope we are healthy and play well!
Go Ducks!

Duarte injured due to a bad cheap shot from Memphis.

God, college basketball is sloppy in November. This game definitely no exception.

CJ Walker rated 5* is a joke, lol. Kid has the basketball IQ of a pumpkin.
Hope Duarte is ok, absolutely love his game. Pretty cheap shot from the Memphis kid. Nothing good happens for Oregon basketball before February!
