This is huge. Who knew the best news of the day wouldn't be about a commit or a transfer?
Makes you wonder if Kansas transfer Bryce Thompson will be a guy we have a serious shot at.
Also, 247 hinting we should start seeing some guys come Oregon's way in light of this hire.

Hmm....Sounds Good. Is the expectation that he will elevate recruiting, keep it the same, or be a bit worse than Stubblefield?StevensTechU wrote:Looks like a home run hire at first glance.

Stewart Mandel-"From a purely aesthetic standpoint, I much prefer to watch a good spread-rushing offense over a traditional Power-I offense, and Oregon's has been the most fun by far for the past several years. It's fast, its precise, and when Chip Kelly has the right quarterback (Dixon, Masoli) at the helm, the possibility of someone ripping off a 60-yard run exists on nearly every play."

Seems like a good hire. The main connection looks to be he's a former assistant under Lon Kruger, one of Altman's mentors. Funny thing is that Crutchfield shares the same alma mater as Tony Stubblefield, Nebraska-Omaha.
Edit: Looks like Stubblefield and Crutchfield share more than just an alma mater; they were college roommates. Beginning to wonder if Stubblefield recommended him to Altman.

This hire also has the approval of former OU star Buddy Hield.

I think the term "slam dunk" applies here.
Also a cool reflection on coach Stubbs that he probably facilitated this, despite being on the way out.

An elite recruiter, Crutchfield was instrumental in the signing and development of Buddy Hield and Trae Young. Hield was the 2016 consensus national player of the year and the sixth overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, while Young was selected fifth overall in the 2018 NBA Draft following a historic freshman season.
After Oklahoma, Crutchfield helped lead Arkansas to a 20-12 record in 2019-20, and was key in the development of Mason Jones, an Associated Press honorable mention all-American and AP co-SEC player of the year. Crutchfield also played a big role in the Razorbacks landing a top-five recruiting class in the nation according to ESPN.

Wonder what DePaul’s coaching budget is. Did Stubbs not have enough funds to offer Crutch himself, if he is that good?
