That leaves Matzek as the top candidate among this year's first-rounders not to sign. Colorado hasn't paid a significantly over-slot, seven-figure bonus since giving second-rounder Jason Young $2.75 million in 2000. I think the Rockies took Matzek with the viewpoint that he was by far the best player available—some clubs had him rated No. 2 overall, behind only Strasburg—and they couldn't pass up that kind of talent at No. 11. But if his price tag doesn't get cut at least in half, I think he'll wind up at Oregon in the fall.

This would be awesome for Oregon baseball if he decides to wait on MLB.

11. Rockies - Tyler Matzek. Matzek could be one of the hardest to sign, and supposedly he has already been assigned a dorm room at University of Oregon, where he's committed to play. The Rockies aren't believed to be able to reach Matzek's bonus demands.



That was from an update on the top unsigned picks, so I thought that was pretty cool. If Matzek makes it to Oregon, wow!!!!!!

Great news. Hopefully Colorado doesn't give in.

This could be great news for the uprising of the team if he indeeds end up in a UO uniform.
