oregon state 6-0
oregon 4-2
washington 4-2
usc 4-2
ucla 4-2
stanford 2-1
wazzu 1-2
arizona 2-4
arizona state 1-5
cal 1-5
utah 1-5

there aren't a lot of bad teams in this conference -- the arizona schools' record is a bit misleading because both have been swept by osu, the consensus #1 team in the country. arizona entered the weekend #6 nationally, lost a pair of games in goss in walk-off fashion, and now find themselves down in the standings. but MOST teams are going to get swept by the beavs this year, especially in corvallis.

(for the record, osu and arizona are #1 and #2 in rpi nationally. we have an rpi of #42, third best in the pac-12)

taking 2/3 from washington was huge because the huskies will be in the postseason, and they should be in the fight for second place all year. if we can win a series against the huskies we can compete with anyone in the conference (save for maybe the beavs). we need to take 2/3 from the utes to keep pace. i don't think we're good enough -- and i don't think utah is bad enough -- to call for a sweep, but if peterson and mercer can deliver their usual stuff hopefully that'll be enough to get us by. i don't know what's going on with our sunday rotation anymore, the zach knoll experiment certainly didn't go as planned with that 1st inning grand slam.

i know basketball season is still going on and the baseball board doesn't usually get much traffic as is but our ducks are (so far) actually pretty good. we have two top 50 series wins. root for mississippi state to finish strong (they just swept a good tennessee team this weekend). root for fresno state to go on a tear, as they've been a bit disappointing so far.

It's amazing we are doing as good as we are. This is by far the least expectations I've had going into a year since the year we resurrected the program.

Ducks lose second game of series 11-5. Does anyone know when the rained out game will be made up?

and sunday was awful too, 13-1 loss. we couldn't get anything going against a sub.500 team's sunday starter. our pitching was horrendous.

bad weekend.
