Oregon State has been getting pounded for 3 weeks. Oregon really should sweep this series.

Re: Oregon @ Oregon State
Here's the deal with OSU. While their regional hopes are on life support, they are, technically, still alive. They have enough games remaining against good teams to get in if they finish strong. However, if they lose this series to Oregon, their regional hopes are officially dead. And that's pretty dangerous for us, playing a talented team on the road with their backs against the wall. Add the fact that their fans are going to be loud and rowdy and that beating Oregon in anything officially validates whatever sport they play us in, and it's going to be a tough series. We're the better team right now, but baseball is by far the hardest sport to predict on a game-to-game basis.
That said, our pitching is red-hot, so I'd still favor us to take two.

lame, box score said there were two hit by pitches.. That sucks.Biggus Duckus wrote:Ducks lose in a bizarre bottom of the 10th. A Beaver tried to bunt but got grazed in the helmet by the pitch, got sent to first even though he made no effort to pull away from the bunt. Then the Ducks try a double play and the first baseman is not on the bag, Beaver strolls into home...
Not a good way to start.

One thing you can say about the PAC 10, The umpires are as consistent as the football and basketball referees... And not in a good way.
Autzen Stadium... Where great teams go to die...Hard!

Lousy offense. Gotta come back and win the next two.

All three OSU batters hit by pitches were kinda lame. Nobody made the slightest bit of an effort to get out of the way, and we've seen an umpire keep the player at the plate several times this year by not making an attempt to get out of the way. The last guy squared around to bunt and followed through with it, and they still awarded him first base. Very, very strange, and not something we've seen much of at all this year.

Top 2, 2-0 OSU
2R HR for the Beavs in the first.

Unfortunately, we're still in a clutch hitting funk. Bases loaded 1 out in the 2nd, we strike out/pop out. Two on in the 3rd, pop out to end the inning.
I keep getting the feeling that when the dam bursts we're going to put up a ton of runs, but its admittedly frustrating waiting for that point to come. While OSU is talented, they are struggling, but we've been playing to their strengths thusfar and the longer it takes us to wake up, the more confidence they get.

Same here, which is why I switched to 9.2.
1 out, runners on the corners, Ducks come up empty. Geez.
