Should win 2 here, but on the road against a Pac-10 team always makes me a little nervous.

Re: Oregon @ Washington (3 game series)
There's just such a different level of athleticism between a team like Oregon and Notre Dame. They get these All-American recruits, I don't know if they're over-hyped because they're committed to ND, but with the exception of those few game-breakers for the most part pretty average talent and athleticism, especially when you then go to Oregon and see what a truly elite team looks like." - Mandel

I could be wrong, but isn't that quote regarding football?

Well it is a quote from Mandell, so I thought it was obvious it was a quote about football.duckgrad99 wrote:I could be wrong, but isn't that quote regarding football?

It's a quote from Stewart Mandel talking on his podcast. He had recently been here for a spring practice.

Right, but there might have been some confusion since it was posted in the baseball section.

Re: Oregon @ Washington (3 game series)
Well, this thread is off to a good start.
I'm not fluent in Washington baseball, but here's what they've done on Fridays this year:
Fresno State, W 10-9
Long Beach State, W 11-9
BYU, L 10-4
Fullerton, L 9-7
Wazzu, W 3-2
Arizona, L 7-2
Cal, W 7-3
ASU, L 10-2
Stanford, W 4-2
UCLA, L 7-2
Oregon State, L 8-6
Diagnosis: Their Friday guy can be hit, and hit hard. If Anderson is on his game, I like our chances to take control of the series early. Huskies can mash the ball, no question, and that's how they've surprisingly been able to stay afloat this year. Watch out for walks and keep the ball low = I like Anderson's chances.
Overall, UW has won series against Long Beach State (2-1, no easy task), Dallas Baptist (3-0), Washington State (2-1), and Stanford (3-0). They had a 5 game win streak going after the Cardinal series and were looking pretty good, but they've since dropped 5 of their last 6 (3 straight to UCLA in Seatte, 2 of 3 in Corvallis last weekend). Unfortunately, they're in a similar position to what Oregon State was in when we played them: win or stay home. We'll get a battle this weekend.
Sunday could be interesting. I think Zach Thornton will get the start, but if he falters early, I don't think Horton will hesitate to put Kuedall in. Kuedall shut down the Huskies in the PK opener back on March 2.

Piazzisi doubles and scores 2. Pufler knocks in another, ducks lead 4-1.
Gotta love how many different players step it up every game.
