"Sam Johnson, 6-0, 180, RHP, Beaverton, Ore./Westview HS
The-top ranked player (No. 130 nationally) in the state of Oregon according to PerfectGame Crosschecker..."

Ha just was about to post this.

Sam Johnson, my brother played baseball against him when they were in middle school. He had a rocket arm, I know that much. And his brother DJ was probably one of the best hitters I've ever seen at the Oregon HS level since Jason Ogata.

The NW produces a LOT of great baseball potential so its awesome to see Coach Horton and Co. clean house again. I think its safe to say that all the $ that was poured into the program/Horton has really paid off. Checketts sounds like a guy we need to keep long-term.

I wouldn't be surprised if he gets offered a head coaching job within the next 5 years or gets named head coach-in-waiting at Oregon so he can take over for Horton.

I have been wondering if Checketts would eventually be Horton's successor.
