About time, but I bet it will grow to 8 or 16 before that initial contract runs out.

Re: 4 team playoff starting in 2014
I have a few questions though about just how things will work. Probably my main question is in regards to the what they call now the BCS bowls. Lets say the Rose Bowl for right now has a team in the top 4 according to the committee or both teams in the top 4 will it then be 1 or 2 at large bids and will the Rose Bowl not be played on January 1st as it has been for decades. The same sort of question can be asked about all 4 of what we know as the BCS bowl games.
I was listening to somebody that made the announcement and he was saying that basically New years eve and New years day will belong to college football both days. It sounded to me as though that was an indication that the Rose Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Sugar Bowl, and Orange bowl will possibly step away from when they have traditionally been played and be played on a different date.
Another thought I had from what he said. The championship game will be played a week later. For the average fan that will be incredibly hard. You have one week to book your room your airfare and get the time off work.
I like the 4 teams and do not think they need to expand to 8. The more teams you have the longer the season goes and the less important the regular season becomes. Part of what makes college football special is every game matters. The longer you draw it out the less important each game becomes. While some might point to the fact it works for the subdivision schools, the subdivision schools do not have a bowl season and their games all season long are not as important as the division 1 counterparts. Just my opinion though.

I think the championship game should be played around mid january. Do like the super bowl and give a bye week the week before the game.
