I love baseball!!! It is my favorite sport to spectate and also play. I am a huge Yankees fan but when it comes down to it I just like watching the game... BTW I HATE the RED SOX... Now thats cleared up. I have been to a good number of stadiums and while I was young for most of them I still look bad at them and was lucky enough to actually go and sit and watch a game. Turner Field(Atlanta Braves) and Old Yankee Stadium were the two that jumped out in my mind. I would be down for a fantasy baseball league, sounds like a great idea.

I am jealous!! I guess that beets being the GSM of a Toyota store..................by a lot!!! It must be nice loving what you do every day. I still remember what it was like going to the yard in the spring, warming up, taking some hacks in the cage. The smells, sun beating down on you. I don't know if there is anything better! I would be in on some fantasy baseball!

I don't really have a favorite MLB team. I usually cheer for the underdogs, but I am excited to see college baseball back in Eugene (When I was younger and visited family I would always go to Emeralds games with my father and Uncle). I am looking forward to a couple of years when the Ducks become the top college baseball team in the state and beat the Beavers on a consistent basis. I am also excited to see the stadium when it is complete next year! Only a few short weeks and the Ducks will be playing baseball again!

For all you Mariners fans, I would really like to see Griffey go back there and retire there. :)

I'm a long time baseball fan and big into fundamentals and the strategy of baseball. I've coached many middle school and high school teams, probably for a total of 15 years or so. I don't watch much MLB anymore because I'm pretty disgusted with how it is run. When Mussina went to the Yankees, that was the final straw for me. I'm an Oriole fan probably since '72 or so. I retired along with Cal Ripken. Eddie Murray is my favorite all-time player. MLB will get me back when a salary cap is instituted. Until then, I'll watch and play golf. I can't wait to start regularly attending Duck baseball games. I'm going to follow it from the get-go, I've been following the recruiting, probable starting lineups, and I bought season tickets. I'm all over it. Can't wait. I'll be taking a lot of pictures at the games, too, and posting them on here.

After the '98 season I was offered an entry level position in Birmingham, which at the time was under the same ownership as Colorado Springs (they also own the Em's by the way). I figured I'd spend a year or two in the South, either move to another job closer to home or grow up and get a real job, but that never happened. I've been with the Barons since the fall of '98 and don't see myself ever leaving.

O started off here selling picnics, and group tickets, and have since been in charge of the ticket office, the group sales office, the stadium operations department and my current job as General Manager of our in-house concessions and catering company. We do everything from putting the tarp on the field when it rains to jumping into the parking lot or a concession stand if things get backed up. During the offseason I sell advertising and season tickets, and work a normal 9-5 day.

Our ballpark also hosts the SEC baseball tournament, so I get to see some top-notch college talent every year, and we're the home stadium for Hoover High Football. That's how I've seen Jackson play several times and have some insight into Hoover Football. I was here for Two-A-Days, which was a major pain in the ass, but it got us some great exposure so I guess it was worth it.

What more do you want to know?

You all ready for the baseball season to start?

I turned on the TV in my office yesterday, and was able to watch the O's beat the Yankees with some great fundamental baseball and some timely hits. That was enjoyable to watch. Sure beat workin'.

We've had three college games so far, and the Barons home opener is tomorrow night so things have been hectic, but we'll be ready to go!

This is random, but fox is showing the Yankees/Red Sox game right now, at least in Southern California. There is a kid right behind home plate wearing an Oregon hat. Right next to him is a guy wearing a Tennessee hat. I just thought that was funny.

I'm a little late to this thread, but I'd like to contribute my 2 cents - 1st, I'm coming to Birmingham to kidnap you and take your job! (kidding - just jealous  ) 2nd, I'm a Braves fan not only because our high school teams are Braves, but when I was "coming of age" the National Anthem ended "...the Land of the Free and the Home of the Braves." :o

I was pretty much anti-Yankee growing up - mostly because they always seem to win all the time - I wanted change(!), dammit. Also my first bat was a Ted Williams model, so I followed the Sox, too.

As a collegian, I was lucky enough to be able to make the Duck Frosh team (wa-a-a-y back when) as a walk-on - many a good memory from those days. :) Some not so good - like playing the Rooks (OSMoo) 6 times - 5 of them one-run games - and we lost 4 of them. :?

The current Ducks have some growing up to do, mentally as well as physically, to get to the point of competing in the PAC-10. I think it will come even though Coach Horton probably doesn't think so right now. We definately need more quality pitching, but there just isn't any excuse for making as many errors as we have this year. The hitters will catch up with the competition with another year of seasoning, but hitting the weight room is MANDATORY!

GO DUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
