91 Point Guards

Top 5 1991 Point Gards:
Terrell Brandon C+ C+ C+ C+ D+ A

The captain of the Oregon Ship for the past few years have led Oregon to deep runs in the NIT runs. He owns records for career and season scoring averages, single game assists and steals and single season steals records. He was an honorable mentions All-American this year and marks the first time an Oregon athlete has declared early for the NBA Draft. At the combine, he was head and shoulders above the other candidates. While he was not the best in any single category, he was the most complete player of the lot and it was not even close. Easily a top prospect with many convincing arguments for the #1 selection next to Kemp and Motombo.

Mark Macon C+ C C+ B+ C- A

The leader of the Temple team that made a very deep run into the NCAA Tourney. The Owls quietly soared all the way to the Elite 8 before losing to Chillcut and the Tar Heels in the Regional Semis. Easily the best thief in this class, no ball was safe for Macon. His extreme pace and natural gifts allowed him to post the top 40 time and standing reach of any guard at the combine (though his bench he barely did three reps). While his 3pt shot leave much to be desired, he has a good enough mid-range game to compliment his finishing ability. Polished defender, constantly in competition with Anthony as to the best defender of point guard the class. Very cocky, loves running his mouth and loved being the big man on campus more than anything else, he knows he's already a star.

Greg Anthony C+ C C+ B D+ A

The point man and third man of the star trio of the Champion UNLV squad. While he was never the 1st or 2nd option on the team, his hard nosed defense combined with a very mature approach to the position. His stabilizing influnce is lauded for keeping LJ and company grounded and his range well complimented the teams otherwise inside prowace. Very advanced ball handler and defender, he challenged the best guards whenever he could at the combine, even making Steve Smith look pedestrian at times (though he would just take another step out and continue to stroke it from deeper). Very few red flags, his only real weakness is a underdeveloped inside game but his defensive layout and great upside more than make up for this.

Mike Iuzzolino C B+ C+ C D+ B

Very mature shooter out of Saint Francis, Pennsylvania. Walked away with the Northeast Conference's player of the year. He was deadly from outside and finished second to Steve Smith in the 3pt contest at the combine. While smith has a better inside game, Mike has a much more developed mid range game which he uses to devastating effect. Scouts are concerned that at 5'11" he may be a little on the short size, but with players like Bogues, Webb, and even Barros succeeding as undersized players, the age of the short guard may have arrived.

Kenny Anderson C+ C C+ C+ C- A

Very well rounded point guard from the Georgia Tech squad just off its loss to Ohio State in the round of 32. Good at staying with his man, outside of Spreewell he has the best close out out in the draft. His main weakness is in his freethrow, he has a really good stroke, but it doesn't go in as much as it looks like it should, but most agree this is most likely an issue of confidence. Solid but not exceptional potential.

Other Point Guard Prospects:

Elliot Perry C C+ B- C+ C A

Very good at rebounding the basketball for his position, the Memphis State Tigers Alum was one of the most developed dime droppers in the nation last year. One of the best mid-major players in the country las year he has a good looking outside game and an extremely mature passing game. He has a habit for finding a ton of open cutters and a master of the college pick and roll.

Chris Corchiani C B- C C+ D+ A

Very polished and good potential, the NCST grad has one of the smoothest mid-range games in the nation. A pot, but low side of A.

Randy Brown C+ C- C C+ D+ B

One of the most crafty inside finishers in the nation, he really never bothered with learning how to shoot.

Darrell Armstrong C+ C+ C C- D+ A

Very balanced scorer, he let too many players abuse him with his underdeveloped defensive skills. Great potential and his offensive skills should find him a home in the NBA for a long time.

John Crotty C C+ C B- D A

Not the top defensive option at point, but right up there in the top 5 defensive guards in the draft. Very slow footed, he lives on mind games and technical play-style.
