Top 5 1995 Shooting Guard Prospects

Brent Berry
C+ B+ C+ C+ C- B

The 5th year senior is probably the last player recruited by the great Ralph Miller of Oregon State. Berry is an extremely prolific shooter who, despite his choice of colleges, played havoc on the Pac-10 this season. He has unlimited range from deep and has a nifty set of inside moves he uses to great effect. While he doesn't show the greatest of skill on the defensive side, he extremely quick and is a menace in the passing lanes. While he may not have a whole lot left to grow on, there is still enough in the tank to consider him one of the top prospects in this year's draft.

Jerry Stackhouse

While Wallace may have tied down the post attention, Stackhouse was really the engine behind North Carolina's final four run. He has never seen a shot he doesn't like and uses his prolific first step to full effect. He is solid in just about every category you could hoe for in a potential star (if you ask him). He gamble on defense a fair bit, but it does lead him to pick up his fair share of steals and blocks. Scouts love his upside and should compete for a very high draft selection. If his attitude matches his game, he could be very very good.

Kerry Kittles
C B- C+ C D A

Very mature shooter out of Villanova. Kittles powered Nova to the tourney but couldn't deliver when he got there. Kittles just could not find the range from deep and ended up losing to 14th seeded Old Dominion in the 1st round. Beyond this disappointment, one should not take too much from one bad game as he had a great campaign in the regular season and also graded out very well at the combine. Loaded with potential.

Bob Sura
C C+ C+ C- D B

Combo guard out of Florida State. The Seminole played SG behind Charlie Ward last season and moved to the point this year. He eventually found his way back to the SG position as, while he can play there, he was most effective at the 2. He is Point Guard Eligible but will still most likely find himself playing the 2 at the next level. Solid from the 3pt line, but his flat release just doesn't have the arc further in. Good passer and should not have problem turning over the ball at either guard position. He tends to only defend from the passing lanes. Solid but not exceptional potential, should still have plenty left in the tank.

Eric Williams
C+ C C- C+ C- A

Really good defender out of Big East power Providence. He led the Friars in pretty every statistical category, and even finished 2nd in rebounding and 3rd in blocks. Very strong, he was easily won the guard bench press title at the combine. His only real struggles were at the free throw line, as he seemed to rush his shot a fair bit. At 6'8", he towers over smaller guards and even played some PF when a small lineup was called for. Plenty of upside, scouts love his frame.

Other SG prospects:
Voshon Lenard
C B C- C+ C- B

Sniper out of Minnesota. He was a volume shooter that loved the free throw line extended and the corner three. Won the shuttle drill at the combine.

Valter Monteiro
C B- C B- C A

Outside shooter out of Angola. Scouts loved him at the combine, but he only ever shot midrange and only ok from the 3pt line. His only finish was a dunk.

Dan Cross
C+ C- C C+ C- B

Outstanding athlete. Excellent recovery off of screens. Decent upside.

Michael Hawkins
C C+ C- C+ D B

Very quick with good 3pth shot. Good potential

Lawrence Moten
C+ C+ C- C C- B

S/F with a good shot and finish set. Needs to hit the weight room.
