Just saw that, The blue Jays gave him a $1 million signing bonus, great deal for him.UOducksTK1 wrote:Marisnick is gone. Waiting on Matzek.

He signed with the Rockies just before the deadline. Too bad, but we all knew he was more than likely not going to ever play at Oregon.

Re: Clock is ticking...
I wouldn't get that upset since most sort of knew he wasn't going to ever play here, but I think he made it worse for some fans since he actually showed up in Eugene for a couple of days. I knew he was as good as gone once Marisnick signed with the Blue Jays. While it sucks not to have him, I think that Horton still brought in enough talent to compete better this season. I still, however, am worried that he doesn't the bats to win enough games.

I know it stinks, from a Duck fan's point of view... Shoot, with any reasonable mangement, that kind of money could be invested to virtually guarantee a decent lifetime income, even if baseball doesn't pan out.
Wow.

Yup. Even if he loses half of it to taxes up front, a paltry 5% gain on $2.5 mill. would be better than $125K per year. I could live on that.woundedknees wrote:I know it stinks, from a Duck fan's point of view... Shoot, my credit union is paying 3% right now... Even that would be a living reeturn for anyone with a reasonable amount of self control. It is not unheard of to find bonds in the 5 1/2-6% range.
Aw, heck! Just go spend it on a big house, fast car, and loose women... Mike Tyson can show you how!
