Ducks now trail 7-4 entering the 9th after they giving up a bases loaded walk, 3-run triple, and an infield RBI single in the 8th.

well that was a disappointing weekend. friday was brutal because our bullpen had been bulletproof all season, then our two best guys vomited all over themselves to earn the loss. saturday was an embarrassing 18-4 no-show, and sunday was a sound 6-1 defeat,

worse, asu is not particularly good.

honestly, that's the exact right response. i've always advocated for horton because i think the hitting criticism is overblown and i didn't think oregon could do better than horton, but it's becoming very apparent that he is no longer bringing in the pitching talent he once did and that's going to be the death knell of the program. pitching is the key to the postseason, not hitting. but now we're doing neither.

i'm hearing our class for next year is outstanding, and all i can say is: it better be. because if we miss the tourney this year that's 3 straight years, and we're going to lose matt mercer after the season.

Yeah another year of this and the hot seat will be very warm.

So you would say that we were able to be successful for the like the first 5 seasons because we were able to bring in high quality pitchers?

Our pitching the last 2 years has been horrendous.

yeah the pitching in this program has really fallen off. we used to have multiple standout weekend starters, now we're down to one per year (the last three years its been cole irvin, david peterson, and now matt mercer on fridays, and if they don't win we're looking at a sweep because the weekend guys are mediocre at best).
