Go Pelicans! If they win, we are guaranteed home court advantage.

We can also just beat the Jazz, but the way we have been playing lately, and the way they have been playing lately, I wouldn't bank on it.

i've once again changed my stance and now i do care about the 3 over the 4, because in the event we win that first round series i'm not sure i can take 4, 5, or 6 games of chris paul whining about fouls and james harden cartoonishly throwing himself into the third row each time he absorbs contact as if he were cold-clocked by superman.

if these scores hold, and it appears they will, blazers will host the pelicans regardless of what happens tonight. tonight determines if we play houston or golden state in the second round.

And with the 3 seed, the Blazers end up in Golden State's bracket.

What a weird season in the Western Conference. The Spurs and Thunder went into the final game of the season, each with the possibility of finishing between 4th and 8th, depending on the various possible outcomes. The Blazers go on a four-game losing streak, but still get the 3-seed and go from 26 to 24 in the draft. The road also looks pretty good for them in the playoffs, with Golden State finishing the season 7-10 over their last 17 games. Hopefully Portland can get it done against New Orleans.

What was Utah's motive for the dirty plays last night, Crowder hip checking Dame, Rubio stopping in front of Nurkic? Was it just "playoff basketball"? I could actually get that if it was a physical game throughout, but it was actually the opposite, Utah played the game with a lack of energy, save for the two cheap shots.

I'd be happy with a series win. Nice to have home court advantage.

highest western conference finish since 2000. best seasons since that collapse against LA in game 7:

the '09 team won 54 games, finished 4th, but lost to houston in 6.

the '14 team won 54 games, finished 5th, but beat houston in 6.

the '18 team won 49 games, finished 3rd, and ??

Halftime: Pelicans 45 Blazers 36
NO:Davis 17, Holiday 15, Rondo 9 assists
POR: Turner 9, Connaugton 5, Collins 5, Lillard & McCollum 3. 1/14 from the field.

As the stats suggest, the Blazers are being outplayed overmatched all over the court. Each time down the Pelicans are moving the ball, getting open shots; the Blazers are disjointed, having to try desperate shots.

97-95. Blazers make it close but end up only home court team to lose game 1.

Lillard's cold shooting continues, 6 of 23 from the field. We've been hearing all season what a huge superstar he is. The playoffs are when you find out the truth. Hopefully he gets it together quickly.

The Must Wins of Must Wins Tuesday for the Blazers. If they don't, it looks like a 4-0 sweep, for the Pelicans.
