WBB: Oregon @ #7 Arizona (Jan. 15, Sat 2:30 PM PAC-12 Net)

Post by GrandpaDuck »

I feel this is the biggest game of the season so far. Barring more Covid Oregon will be at full strength for the first time all year and Paopao and Rogers have logged some quality minutes now since their injuries.

UA beat OSU on a shot with 1 second left in a defensive struggle. UA seldom leaves players open and passes in the post are aggressively contested. Paopao and Rogers ability to create their own shots will be an asset. Should also be a good battle with both teams having talented bigs.

For Oregon to be a good tournament team this would be a great game to launch a run.

Starting lineup for Oregon will be interesting. Will Graves go with the 4 Guards and Sabally again, bringing Prince off the bench or does he go big starting Prince and putting Scheer or Parrish into a reserve role? Making sure you have a good second unit is important against Arizona as they play 10 deep, substitute frequently and will exploit a week second unit.

It doesn't look like Taylor Chavez has made a big impact for Arizona. Hopefully that continues for at least one more game.....it is the least she can do after how terrible she was for the Ducks last season. So far this season she is only averaging 13.5 minutes per game, is shooting .303 from the floor, .348 on 3's and .500 on FT's.

Yeah, Taylor isn't playing a lot, saw her short stint against the Beavs, she played good defense and general game but no offense.

Jazz Shelley is still tearing it up at Nebraska, leads her 13-2 team in Scoring, Rebounding, Assists, Steals and even Blocked shots. Mikesell is averaging 18.8 points per game on a good OSU team. Unlike at Oregon see hasn't cooled down from her fast shooting start and is hitting 3s at .488

Shelley and Mikesell struggled last year at Oregon because of the weird Covid practices and season and because there was too much fairly equal talent and they pressed trying to find and hold their spots, both now are playing up to the talent they displayed 2 years ago.

She's on a team with arguably better talent than she competed against when she was here for the most part. Too slow...

Is the feed complete trash for anyone else? I haven't been able to see a thing for the past quarter. Awful Broadcast....pathetic Pac-12
Stewart Mandel-"From a purely aesthetic standpoint, I much prefer to watch a good spread-rushing offense over a traditional Power-I offense, and Oregon's has been the most fun by far for the past several years. It's fast, its precise, and when Chip Kelly has the right quarterback (Dixon, Masoli) at the helm, the possibility of someone ripping off a 60-yard run exists on nearly every play."

Heckuva comeback win for them. Seems both Oregon basketball teams are slowly figuring things out now.

Great week for Oregon Basketball so far. Now if the women can beat UCONN they can make a great run.

We might have stolen that game based on this baseline feed as Rogers had a foot on the line when she came in for the rebound.

I don’t know. Seems like she Re established herself inbounds before the ball touched her hands.
