In Euro League news, KK Partizan was defeated in the semi finals of the Euroleague basketball tournament by Tel Aviv. Young Vlade Divac and wonderkid Žarko Paspalj with Aleksandar Đorđević and veterans Željko Obradović, Milenko Savović and Goran Grbović were considered rank outsiders when the season started, but with the development of their young talent, they looked like contenders for most of the year. Their defeat in the semis seems to have wetted the teams appetite for another run, in a post game press conference, Divac responded to the speculation of the upcoming draft, "I love where I am at right now. With the strong competition between us and KK Split for the division title, I can't see why I would not want to make another run at a title. Split won the title and we swept the season series, I really think we can win it all next year." Divac, considered one of the top prospects were he to declare for the draft, put the speculation to bed by renegotiating his contract for another two years with a one year opt out clause.

Still should be a good amount of bigs in this draft. Divac could move from 5-6 in this year to #2 next.

You look back, it is startling how few actual russians there were on the USSR national team. Mostly Lithuania, with Ukraine, Estonia and one or two Russians mixed in.
